  1. WhatsApp enables users to send expiring images, videos ● WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging applications on the planet. However, because of the new privacy policy, it has recently been the subject of debate and has sparked strong resistance. The Facebook-owned company has introduced the divisive feature, stating that it will only affect corporate clients and that private conversations and calls will remain encrypted from beginning to end. The criticism was sparked by consumers' fears that the amount of data exchanged between Facebook and WhatsApp will dramatically grow. WhatsApp has been delivering feature after feature to keep users after a huge number of them went to Telegram and Signal as a result of the reaction. Recently, WhatsApp has announced another new feature that will enable users to send expiring images and videos. Further Details According to WABetainfo, WhatsApp is launching a new ‘view once' functionality for pictures and videos on Android today. A few days ago, the new ‘view once' function, often known as expiring media, was announced. You can transmit photographs and videos that can only be viewed once with this function. It's worth noting that the feature was previously only available on Instagram, but is now available on WhatsApp. It also lets users see if the receiver has seen the media. For the time being, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.14.3 is the only version that works with this feature. Later, iOS beta testers will be able to activate their accounts. Check if the option view once is present while sharing media to see if the feature is available on your WhatsApp. If media is sent to people who have not yet enabled the feature, the view once feature will work. When the recipient views the media, the user receives a notification. After everyone has seen the media, it is removed from the discussion. Users will be able to conserve more space as a result of this. You can also pick whether or not you want to be notified when the recipients open your material. Disable the read receipts option to use this feature. However, receivers will still be able to see if you have accessed the photo or video. The new view once feature can be used to send media to WhatsApp groups, but the option to read recipients does not work for groups. Message Info contains information on the observed status. Users who use the feature should be cautious, as screenshots and screen recordings might be used to store expiring media hence data sharing might occur. If you share a common group with blocked contacts, they will be able to see your photos and videos.

  2. Summing Up While the view once features is quite similar to Instagram, we’ll have to see how it works on WhatsApp. Some users may find it inconvenient or find it hard to get used to. It’ll take some time for the functionality to be completely rolled out hence we will have to wait a little longer to get user feedback. One thing is for certain WhatsApp seems to be determined to retain users by its innovative features and it looks like it’s achieving its goal.
