  3. ABOUTLG27GN950-BMONITOR: In combination with a 27′′ display, the 4K UHD resolution provides a superb pixel density. Provide clear text, games, and other suitable high-definition material with strong detail and clarity. The LG 27GP950 combines this with a refrigeration speed of 160 Hz and a selection of interesting games. This UltraGear Series member contains thin bezels on either side with a two-stage design, including a thin flush border of the panels and the remainder of the screen.

A central joystick is controlled by the OSD. With a resolution of 3840 x 2160, the LG Display Nano IPS panel is used, which has a light matt screen surface and 10- bit colour support. A color gamut of 98 percent DCI-P3 and a typical maximum brightness of 400 cd/m2 are provided by flicker-free LED illumination. For HDR10 content, the VESA Display HDR 600 display is approved for up to 600 cd/m2+.

A Dynamic Action Sync feature is also incorporated into the display. The rear is primarily matte black plastic with some red pieces woven throughout. 'Sphere Lighting 2.0' surrounds the centre region with a ring of RGB LEDs. It may be controlled via the UltraGear Control Center software or a dedicated scrolling wheel adjacent to the OSD joystick.

  10. POSITIVEREVIEWOFCUSTOMERBY AMAZON: 4k gaming at 144hz on a 27-inch monitor is amazing, especially on an IPS panel. This is definitely the way to go if you are planning to upgrade. I went from a 23" monitor at 1080p 60hz panel and the difference was night and day. There are a few things that aren't great though. First off, the cost. It is really expensive but very well worth it if you can drop that much for it. Secondly, there is a bit of backlight bleed. Mine isn't that bad and I didn't have any dead pixels when it arrived either. I'm extremely satisfied with this monitor and am so glad I swiped it while I could. I definitely recommend this monitor!

  11. It's one of the best screens I've ever tried (including Apple XDR). It's even better than LG's own 32" HDR 600 monitor. The HDR effect is more prominent here. Works out of the box with Windows 10 & macOS Catalina. I also love the design, small mount for the keyboard cable, USB connection. What a luxurious screen. This is the first 4k monitor I've ever owned, been pc gaming almost 20 years. Been using the LG 34GN850-B for almost a year and I'm having a hard time deciding between the two. I got this from Amazon warehouse used listed in "Good" condition and it was basically new still wrapped up. If you are second guessing getting it used don't!

  14. ASSEMBLY AND ACCESSORIES: After the foundation has been mixed, the panel 27GN950-B clamps in place with two captive bolts. A little clip with cables for DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB is included with the cable management box. The supplier of electricity is an outside brick. Given the bandwidth needs of the monitor, LG suggests that a 4K resolution be executed at 144 Hz with the cable's supply. The LG 27GN950-B has just five meters on top and sides and ten meters on the bottom, it is the thinnest bezel that we have seen yet. It is closer to this aim, but not fully frameless, than anybody else we know about.

  15. The styling is angular, with just enough softened edges to avoid being too harsh. Matte black in brushed and pebble finishes are standard. The bottom of the base has a red trim with LG and G- Sync logos prominently displayed. On the rear is the LG logo swooping version and the RGB LEDs ring around the recto. Use the 100mm VESA mount and yet make use of the lamps to remove the stand. The RGB is controlled via a cable in the middle below. It turns them on by pressing it. Then, by browsing through six options you may modify the impact. The music and on-screen material of LG's free Ultragear Control Center software may also be used to synchronize effects.

Press it, and the choose entry input, game mode, power, and complete menu will be shown fast. Game Mode refers to image 8 of the monitors. Gamer 1, if your aim is the P3 gamut, is default and precise enough to be utilized without calibration. SRGB is included, although, with over 130% coverage, the gamut significantly decreases. HDR Effect may accomplish this if you want to impart the HDR appearance to the SDR content.

  18. It retains highlights and shadow details, but it has a personal appearance. Two Calibration options are also available to unlock the True Color Pro software of LG. An Adaptive-Sync option, Black Stabilizer for stronger shadows, three-level overdrive, and a variety of aiming locations are all available under Game Adjust. All calibration settings of the LG 27GN950-B are available in Gamer 1. Four gammas preset are available, three-color time plus custom mode, a selection method by Kelvin value, and a six-color hue and saturation menu.

  19. With high resolution and superb precision, all adjustments are exact. Minor modifications are going to make a highly precise display. The LG 27GN950-B supports local dimming, however, it has an edge backlight. It has a tiny, but large influence on SDR quality in HDR mode with strong contrast, genuine black highlights, and consequently some of the finest HDR performance on the mainstream displays.

  20. CALIBRATIONSETTINGS: There is no calibration needed with the 27GN950-B although modest increases with a few adjustments are achievable. The optimum gamma preset is Mode 4, so that grayscale tracking may be carried to an error-free condition by a single touch of the red slider. In the P3 gamut, color is always in any image mode. Choosing sRGB saturates somewhat but not as much as a pure SRGB display. We also reduced the contrast a bit to enhance gamma and address a 100% bright red clipping problem. It is necessary to recalibrate the white point with any modification to the gamma.

  21. GAMING ANDHANDS-ON: Some dynamic choices are provided with the 27GN950-B. You may just utilize the Local Dimming system, which looks very nice, given it comes from a box with Gamer 1 mode. The display is comparable to other IPS monitors, however, with a large P3 gamut coverage it offers a bit more color vibrancy. With 200 nits of lighting, we can work on papers and graphic editing without weariness all day. The contrast quadrupled with Local Dimming, and it shows. The color seemed brighter and the blacks looked deeper. Also without cutting, highlight and shadow details are usually retained.

  22. We witnessed it operate a couple of times when a small, luminous item was on a black background. Then, you could see a vertical band with a brighter backlight than the surrounding region. It is like the FALD Halo effect, but the Halo stretches the whole screen height occasionally. This has been an uncommon event. This is one of the few displays that looks well in HDR mode when using Windows office programs. Although the color is a touch foggy, the contrast is excellent. You may also reduce the brightness if it appears too harsh. In HDR mode, the LG 27GN950-B is one of the few monitors we've encountered that allows you to adjust the brightness.

  23. The HDR Effect mode is an alternative to this. At its default brightness level of 100, it's blindingly bright. However, lowering the brightness to 26 makes it more bearable. Here, users have many nice and useful alternatives. Much the same experience with SDR gaming. When an extra color is available, Tomb Raider always looks fantastic. The LG 27GN950-B is very much available. We kept in mode Gamer 1 and turned on Local Dimming. The contrast was excellent, and the color was quite pleasant. Motion processing was perfect while we played at 110 fps. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti cannot handle 4K on 144 Hz in our test setup since DisplayPort 1.4 is lacking. But the LG 27GN950-B ran well at 120 Hz, and the game's details have never been maximized to 120 fps.

  24. The full 144 Hz is possible as the card supports DisplayPort 1.4 and Display Stream Compression when playing Radeon RX 5700 XT. But Adaptive-Sync was completely functional in both situations. When it came to Call of Duty: WWII and its HDR feature, we were blown away. Highlights were brilliant and vibrant, while shadows were black and detailed. The 27GN950-B is a fantastic alternative to a more costly FALD display if you're looking for an HDR monitor. On our RX 5700 XT- based system, we played with HDR and 144 Hz, but in-game rates never topped 110 fps. The GTX 1080 Ti platform was no exception. To achieve 144 Hz at 4K, you'll need a powerful graphics card.

  27. NEGATIVEREVIEWOFCUSTOMERBY AMAZON: Monitor arrived, box was completely intact, however upon plugging it in, immediately had issues with the display port. Checked with multiple display port cables and into different display port slots, and it wouldn't work. Constant flickering, static, screen tearing, messed up colors. Checked with HDMI cable and it worked fine, however can only do 4k60hz with HDMI, instead of 4k144hz with display port also, no G-Sync compatibility with HDMI, so I had to opt for a return. It's a good monitor, but it seems QA could use some work. Hi all don't buy this!!. The screen was excellent at the beginning, and after 6 months of use, the screen no longer works and the electricity input is faulty. Unfortunately I wasted my money on this product

  28. NEGATIVEREVIEWOFCUSTOMERBY AMAZON: I bought this monitor and fell in love with it. It is as advertised. BUT.... I bought it in October 12th. Powered it up this morning December 22nd.. blue line down the screen. It didn't even make it 3 months. The same black screen issue you see on 100s of these reviews. Monitor goes to sleep even though you have everything set to never sleep and it wont wake up without rebooting your computer. Read dozens of posts about it, tried everything, new cords etc. Absolutely ridiculous and LG hasn't responded with a fix in over 6 months. Ignoring their customers. Never buying LG products again.

  29. NEGATIVEREVIEWOFCUSTOMERBY AMAZON: The monitor arrived in a resealed box and did not work when set up. First, this is a great monitor. I have had zero issues with the monitor, save one. However, it is a big enough of a problem that buyers should be aware about. The monitor is powered by an adapter that you might find similar to one for laptops. This is a terrible connection for a monitor. Not only does it not click or feel like it ever properly fits into the monitor, I have had several issues with the monitor going black, and some sounds of electric arcing between the metals on the power connection. Because of this issue, my screen will power off randomly with either a jiggle of the desk, or if the speakers vibrate the desk just a little too much.

  30. VERDICT: The LG 27GN950-B, one of the fastest 4K monitors at 144 Hz, provides accurate color and outstanding HDR at a lower price than a top-of-the-line FALD display. For gaming, the LG 27GN950-B is excellent. The screen tears are reduced with a high 160Hz recovery rate and VRR support. The reaction time and reduced input latency are excellent if you play at its 60Hz maximum refresh rate. Sadly of its poor contrast and awful black uniformity, because of its poor contrast and awful black uniformity.
