  1. Does CBD Work? Benefits of CBD

  2. What Is CBD? CBD stands for cannabidiol and is one of the many compounds found in the hemp plant. It is a cannabinoid, one of the many compounds that attach to specific receptors spread throughout the human body. It is non-intoxicating, however, because it reduces anxiety it cannot be said to be entirely non-psychoactive. As the World Health Organization states, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.” In short, at the very least, we can be confident that CBD does no harm on a societal level. That being said, there is much research remaining to be done on the compound’s benefits. Some of them, however, are already apparent

  3. The Benefits of CBD One of the most promising, important, and scientifically-verified benefits of CBD relates to the treatment of childhood epilepsy. Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome are both horrible afflictions visited on the least deserving. These diseases tend not to respond to traditional anti-seizure medications. They do, however, respond to cannabinoids like CBD. The first ever FDA-approved, cannabis derived medicine, called Epidiolex, was developed to treat this class of conditions and features CBD as a key ingredient. In Canada too, there has been progress made in this exciting new realm of medicine. Health Canada approved a 1:1 medication composed of equal portions of THC and CBD for the treatment of neuropathic pain related to multiple sclerosis and cancer pain that would not respond to opioid therapy. Plus, in animal studies conducted by European scientists, CBD was proven to reduce pain and inflammation resulting from arthritis. The promising results, published in The European Journal of Pain, seem to reflect something found in a recent poll conducted by The Arthritis Foundation. 29% of respondents reported current CBD use. Approximately 80% of the respondents had used CBD, were currently using CBD or considering the use of CBD. Even more interestingly, a majority reported improvements in well-being, physical functions and sleep. Additionally, there is growing evidence that CBD and other cannabinoids may remove harmful plaques from brain cells that could lead to Alzheimer’s disease. Plus, there is plenty of anecdotal and an expanding body of verified evidence that CBD can help those suffering from more common conditions like chronic pain, nausea and insomnia. All that being said, if someone tells you that CBD is a cure for cancer, don’t believe them.

  4. Facts About Derived From Industrial Hemp Regardless of scientific consensus, CBD has already made deep inroads in the wellness, nutritional and holistic communities. These communities, too, are expanding into your local drugstore. Go to any grocery store or pharmacy and you’ll find CBD formulations. CBD and turmeric that may reduce inflammation. CBD and melatonin, stacked to promote sleep. Though the compound’s popularity is not the same as hard scientific proof of its effects, it is proof that CBD is here to stay in the commercial market.

  5. Environmental Benefits of CBD Production CBD doesn’t just have the ability to heal the human body. It also has the potential to help heal the body of the Earth, as well. CBD is derived from the hemp plant. When it comes to hemp, environmental impact is paramount. The benefits of industrial hemp production exist from the literal ground up, considering the hemp plant is a carbon-reducing and soil cleaning plant. Though the question of “how much oxygen does hemp produce?” remain technically unknown, it’s a somewhat complex question in the first place. Studies have shown that hemp oxygen production shows great potential, given it’s huge carbon-sponging attributes. A single ton of cultivated hemp can reduce 22 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Hemp’s environmental benefits do not stop there with regards to CBD production. After the CBD has been isolated, the remaining plant matter can be converted into other usable, hemp-derived products.
