  1. What are the Different Affordable Housing Challenges? The main obstacles to affordable housing are funding, laws, and property availability. funding is a huge obstacle because if the money isn’t available to make the affordable housing webinars effective, then that decreases its ability to help individuals who need the benefits of the program. Individuals who work full-time minimum wage jobs, still have difficulty affording to house, so these programs are important. most older populations face numerous housing challenges, including those related to affordability, physical accessibility, and access to medical and other services inside and outside the home. seniors in rural areas encounter additional challenges related to their relative isolation from neighbors, services, and amenities. most seniors own their homes, but the percentage of older adults who rent is expected to increase slightly from few years. both owners and renters face affordability pressures. Seniors with substantial retirement savings and household wealth will be best able to afford the rent, mortgages, property taxes, home repairs, and modifications needed to safely age in place. here are some challenges are given below- Affordability- Most seniors own their homes, but the percentage of older adults who rent is expected to increase slightly from 21% in 2012 to 23% in 2035. Both renters and owners will face economic setbacks, whether it’s for mortgages or rent amounts. additionally, most seniors rely on retirement funds or federal programs to assist with day-to-day life, but that budget is very limited. in addition to cost burdens, declining incomes can prevent households from making necessary home repairs or modifications for aging in place and can make paying for needed health services more difficult. These economic pressures are

  2. compounded by the increasing number of seniors carrying debt into retirement, including mortgage debt. Need for support for housing rental markets- Policies that set eligibility requirements for formal renting or homeownership often lockout for the poor people, as they require extensive documentation – such as proof of employment and income that is unavailable to those who work in the informal economy. a healthy housing market includes a range of options and arrangements. emphasis on one type of housing arrangement leads to shortages for important segments of the city’s population, especially for the poor and lower-middle-class, who often then end up in informal and less secure living arrangements. Underutilized land in city centers- Creating secure, affordable housing in and around cities rather than in distant areas is essential to ensure economic productivity, environmental sustainability, and equity for the whole metropolis. If there isn’t enough affordable housing in the city, more poor and lower- middle-class residents will be pushed to the outskirts, far from infrastructure, social networks, and existing jobs, creating long travel times and additional expenses. Location and access to services matter. Accessibility- As the population rises, the number of people with disabilities is also likely to increase due to aging. They will need accessibility modifications to navigate around the property safely. in many rapidly growing urban areas, large segments of the population live in substandard housing with uncertain property rights, with limited access to basic services such as clean water, toilets, electricity, and garbage collection.

  3. Many cities have attempted to solve the problem of affordable housing through informal settlements by either enticing or forcibly relocating residents to the urban periphery where land is cheaper. Housing is one of the important issues that should be discussed with housing consulting companies and addressed in the New Urban Agenda. having valid goals and approaches to affordable and sustainable housing are found throughout as a key element of sustainable and inclusive urban prosperity for all.
