Differences between Air-Cooled & Liquid-Cooled generators

The air-cooled engine doesn't have water to cool down during the engine gets heated. The air-cooled generators can practice it for a single purpose and for a short duration.

  1. Air-Cooled Generator Sets Versus Liquid-Cooled Generator Sets: Which You Should Prefer?

  2. Generators are of several types with particular advantages and features. Therefore, it's essential to opt for a generator wisely as per the requirement. In thud post, we have come up with the difference between two of the most common types of generators, including air-cooled generator sets and water-cooled generators, to assist you in choosing the appropriate generator among the two.

  3. Water-Cooled Generator • In a water-cooled generator, we need to pour water into the engine of the water generator. The important thing about this generator is that it will not get damaged faster when compared to air-cooled generators. The repairing parts and the maintenance for this water-cooled generator is economical.  • Now take an example, if you want to build a tent or you want to DJ, then for sure it will take approximately 10-12 hours. And your generator must operate 10for -12 hours continuously. What people usually do is buy air-cooled generators and face the consequences. • Air-cooled generator • If you want to operate the generator for 1-2 hrs or operate the generator for 15 minutes, you can use air-cooled generators. The major drawback of air-cooled generators is that they get damaged easily, and their repairing parts are also expensive.

  4. The Differences Between Air-Cooled and Liquid-Cooled Generators  • 1. Air-cooled generators • The engine of the air-cooled generator is an overhead valve air-cooled. The way it works is that the engine is pulled by an air intake on the right and passed over the engine to cool it through the exhaust. These air-cooled generators are available in sizes 7 to 20kw, which can power most modern-sized homes and bigger homes with more oversized loads. • 2. Water-cooled generator • This type of generator has an automotive engine and an automotive cooling system. It is astonishing, just like the automobile. These generators can be available at a size of 30kw.

  5. How Will You Know Which Is Suitable For You Among Air-Cooled Generator Sets Or Water-Cooled Generators? • You may know only when you talk to assurance power systems, so they use a Gensizer tool to do a calculation and see precisely the right product for your house. • Buying guide • Nowadays we are more dependent on electricity and work pressure is also increasing. Due to these factors, generators are becoming a demand and more popular among people. Generators are used for emergency backup and independent power supply.  • Types of generators • Portable Generator • Inverter Generator • Standby generator

  6. Portable Generator • The portable generators are used for domestic purposes, and it is affordable too. • Inverter generator • These generators are used in offices, apartments, and they will also provide stable electricity and provide total efficiency. The noise of these inverter generators is also less. Due to its efficiency and reliability, it is a bit expensive.  • Standby generators • These generators are used for industrial purposes. It is large and installed permanently. Though it is permanently installed, you cannot move from one place to another. That is, it is not portable. It can provide you with vast electricity. • Before buying generators, it is crucial to keep a note of these points. • Note the power of a generator you are planning to buy and determine how much power you need.

  7. Which To Buy Among Air-Cooled Generators and Water-Cooled • Generators • Consider this simple logic before buying the generators, Air-cooled generators will not require water, whereas water-cooled generators will require generators.  • Pipe and fan belts will not break in air-cooled generators, whereas in water-cooled generators, we will have a fear of bursting pipes and fan belts. • If you load in a pickup, then it will not release air in air-cooled generators. But it can produce a small amount of heat. • If you operate water-cooled generators in a tent, you will have to pour water in it, while in air-cooled generators, you don't have to pour water. • There is also a fear of pipe breaking, so that it can lead to engine damage. If the pipe bursts, then it will produce more heat to the engine. • Water-cooled generators are best for pickup because the generator will release the air from the upper side. • When the engine gets heated, the water in it cools down the engine, and it also cools down by the fan in the generator. There is a wheel on the lower side of the engine that also cools down the engine by its airflow. The wheel is made up of titanium or iron.

  8. Consider a fan and a cooler. Both provide airflow, but the fan will give you hot air during the summer times, and the cooler will provide you cool air. Now imagine a cooler is a water-cooled generator, and a fan is an air-cooled generator. • Water-cooled generators are better because they have water to cool down the heat produced by the engine after operating for long hours. So, experts suggest you can use water-cooled generators for more duration, and you will not have the problem of bursting the fan belt.  • The air-cooled engine doesn't have water to cool down when the engine gets heated. The air-cooled generators can use it for simple purposes and short duration.  • What happens in water-cooled generators is that it reduces the heat production even in the closed area because of multi fans. But air-cooled generators will heat up more, and the fear of burst fan belts will increase while they are used in closed areas. • Thus, both the generators are helpful in their ways. It depends on your usage only. I am saying here that you must prefer water-cooled generators if you want to operate the generator for long hours. If you want to operate the generator for a few hours, you must prefer air-cooled generator sets. Both generators have their level of efficiency and are best in their case. Opt for any of them as per your requirements.

  9. Conclusion • Since the technology has developed and is still developing, the generator's features are also advancing day by day. Depending on your usage, you should choose the generator. Think twice and ask experts about generators, then go for it!
