  1. The term cold room refers to a chamber that is used to chill or freeze foodstuffs like vegetables, fruits, meats and fishes. A cold room is also a room in which constant low temperature is maintained (as for refrigeration). The temperatures of the cold rooms range from between -70 degree centigrade to 10 degree centigrade. There are companies like ALBA & Ziebaq who manufacture cold rooms. Specification of a Cold Room: The specifications of Cold Room are as follows: 1.Insulation: the insulation has to be CFC Free and it should be made of Rigid Injected Polyurethane /PIR 2.Density: the density of the cold room has to be 42kg/m³. 3.Thickness: the thickness of the cold rooms should be 80 mm (+0 temp rooms), 80mm (-0 temp rooms. 4.Cladding: the cladding of the rooms should be 06 mm PVC, 0.5mm GI or 304 SS anti-bacterial.   2. 5.Fire Rating: the cold rooms have to meet the fire redundancy requirements based on FM approval 4880. 6.Construction: the Panels are joined by two systems like Male-Female, Cam-Lock or using both. 7.Flooring: there are two types of flooring in cold rooms. Panel flooring: 80 mm insulated panels with 1.5 mm Checkered Aluminum on top. Floorless: 50mm insulation foam with 100 mm 7concrete slab on the top or plywood. Refrigerant: the refrigerant that is used in cold rooms is called R404. 8.Electrical Rating: the electrical rating of the cold room should be 380v/3ph. 9.Lighting: the lighting of the cold rooms should be Heavy Duty, Water Proof, Low Energy & Florescent Lighting T5. 10/Installation: there are two installation systems in cold rooms. Panels: the Pre-Cut panels are installed as per site dimensions & requirements of the clients. Condensing Units & Evaporators: the Pre-Wired condensing units and evaporators are installed or made to suit site conditions.

Flexibility in Sizes: the manufacturers can build cold rooms as per the requirements and needs of their clients in various sizes. 4. Lesser in Cost: there is a misconception that cold rooms are expensive, but a large cold room costs less than buying multiple double door refrigerators. To conclude we can say that cold rooms are very much required by us to keep our stock fresh for a longer period of time.
