It covers career gaps, provides personal and professional information about the candidate, and establishes a connection with the recruiters. A good cover letter complements a resume. They suggest customizing each cover letter for a different job position and maintain a one-pager rule. Cover letters are different from resumes, and it hits the recruiter's attention first. It contains some personalized information that makes the recruiter think about the candidate for the interview. So, some extra effort worth a lot. How to Write Cover Letter for Job Interviews: The basic structure of a cover letter is something similar to an application letter. Though there are some strict rules one must follow while writing a cover letter, but the format of a good cover letter contains the following elements:  Application Date  Recruiter's Details  Subject Line with Job Position Name  Greeting  Introduction and Pitch  Body containing vitals  Conclusion and commitment Tips for writing a good Cover Letter:  Personalize the letter for each job role. Never use a generic cover letter as they are not helpful. You must write a fresh one for each position. If you are still using a generic one, do some modifications, add your strengths and skills, explain why you are the perfect candidate, and make sure it fulfills the job posting criteria.  Use proper contact information. Try to add the name of the hiring manager to whom you are sending the letter. If you don't know the name or it is not mentioned in the application, call the company or check their website. Including the name gives your letter a proper greeting. Add your contact information too, because without this, the cover letter ids incomplete.  Keep your letter clear and concise. Recruiters don't have much time to read lengthy cover letters as they have to read hundreds of them for a single posting. A proper cover letter should be a one-pager with a few concise paragraphs.  Include only relevant things. Stay on the topic. Don't use irrelevant things like, if you are applying for an Accountant position, keep your cooking skills away from the application. Also, your hobbies and interests are the things that you must avoid while writing the CL unless they relate to the position.  Be professional, use a positive tone. Don't make them think that you're not a professional. Whether you're a highly experienced professional or a recent graduate, always use a positive tone and convince them with your quality. It would be best if you looked confident while applying for the job.  Spelling mistake is a big no. There is no margin of error! A small spelling mistake can make a huge impact, and they can even throw your application straight away. So be careful about it.  Proofread at least thrice. After writing the cover letter, go through it at least three times and ensure no errors. Also, check the sentences you wrote are accurate grammatically and are engaging. Use Grammarly or any cover letter builder if you have any sentence-making issues. Also, if possible, ask someone to check the letter and recommend if any modification is required.
