  3. INTRODUCTION When the last one falls, I must go, too. - O Henry. “The Last Leaf” follows Johnsy, a poor young woman who is suffering from pneumonia. She believes she will die when the ivy vine on the wall outside her window loses all of its leaves. Her painter neighbour Behrman tricked her by painting a leaf on the wall. And she recovered. We start this book by explaining how coaching has stepped into this world and has paved its way to form A New Journey. In the second chapter, we move forward to discuss how anyone can step into the coaching profession and transform the lives of individuals. You will further find materials to help you understand why you need a coach. In this book, we will be discovering how coaching sessions work so that clients can understand what they would receive out of the session they would book. This book is designed to provide a deep view of what you as a coach should expect from your coachee and what a coachee should expect from your coach after he selects the coach he wants to move ahead with. The moral is that expectations are the way we live. It provides us the path we want to travel and above all it instills hope. Just like Johnsy survived because of the expectation and hope of the last leaf, we humans also move ahead with such expectations. Thus, we give you this book to clear all your expectations about coaching. PAGE - 03 | WWW.XMONKS.COM | A Journey Into & Expansion Monks

The only requirement to become a coach is to possess a few qualities like: A peoples person Listening, Patience, and Humility Good Communication skills Is non- judgemental Possess the helicopter view WHAT DO COACHES DO? To answer the question of what a coach does, you need to first ask yourself why you need a coach. Once you answer this question, you will get the exact reason for what a coach does. The first coaching session begins by filling up a questionnaire so that a coach can have an idea about the client. Each coaching session is usually 45 minutes or an hour long. These sessions are either online, in person, on calls, and sometimes through other virtual formats. There is normally an interval of four weeks between each coaching session but this can be changed as per requirement. Sessions are usually completed within a period of 6 to 9 months. 7. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM COACHING? Coaching is widely perceived as a collaborative effort between you and your coach, who will gently encourage you to examine how to make positive changes in your life based on your goals. But should you expect? This question has a two-fold aspect. First what to expect from a coach and second what do coaches expect from you. Let us explore these aspects. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A COACH? 1. Confidentiality- The most expected aspect from the coach is to main 100% confidentiality. Any good coach will always hold this as a sacred rule and create a super safe space for you to say whatever you want or need to say. The reason that this is the most essential is that when a client comes to a coach he expects the coach to know everything that is causing his problem and provide the ultimate solution within the four walls of coaching. 2. Credentials- For any individual to opt for a coach the basic expectation is to have the necessary coaching credentials including the certifications and personal experience. Your coach should always be striving to learn more, keep their credentials current, and, in an ideal world, add new ones to their resume. If your coach isn’t knowledgeable about tapering, strength training, or hydration, you should look elsewhere. 3. One-on-one meetings- Coachees expect their coaches to provide one-to- one meetings. They want a separate space for themselves with the coach so that they can express themselves freely and maintain confidentiality. 4. Create an action plan- A coach will start by studying you. He will find out about you like your aspirations, your strength. He shall brainstorm and put ideas to the test in a safe and agenda-free environment for the coachee. He will create a plan, specifically designed to cater to the needs of the clients. Your coach will assist you in developing a concise action plan outlining how to proceed and make progress. Provide as much detail as possible about your needs, aspirations, and goals. The coaching and action plans are only as effective as the data you supply. 8. 5. Learning assignments- Regardless of how your sessions are delivered, your coach may ask you to take specific actions between sessions to assist you in achieving your personally prioritized goals. These actions may take the form of pertinent articles, checklists, assessments, or models that serve as a foundation for your thinking and actions. Learning assignments provide an active forefront for the coachees to reflect. 6. Honest feedback- To get the most out of a coaching session the clients need feedback from the coaches so that they are aware of the changes they are receiving through the session to refine their plan further. Feedback not only provides a measuring platform but also triggers motivation in coachees. 7. Interesting Tools and Techniques- A coach will be able to offer suggestions and provide you with a variety of resources to assist you in achieving the next step in your plan. Your coach will employ the most effective approaches and techniques to assist you in achieving your goals. These techniques will help you achieve your targets. Your coach will want you to take responsibility for your actions and will provide clear direction and guidance to enable you to solve your own problems and expand your thought processes. This will facilitate reflection and learning, as well as increase the impact of your coaching journey. 8. Tough Love- Coaches enjoy witnessing their clients’ growth and transformation. And sometimes this necessitates telling the unpalatable truth. As a result, your coach should have the guts to do so when necessary. Remember that they should always be doing this for you – to help you grow and develop. 9. Develop Mindset- Expect your coach to assist you in developing a mindset that allows you to maximize your potential and discover solutions within yourself. They will work towards all the far reached end of your mind to utilize your maximum capabilities. 10. Non-judgemental- Coaches need to be non-judgemental. If they start moving in the other direction then their coachees will never be able to express themselves freely. They will believe that they will be constantly just upon what they say and thus they will start hiding important parts that may be necessary for a coaching session. | WWW.XMONKS.COM | PAGE - 08 A Journey Into & Expansion Monks

  9. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A COACHEE? 1. Respect- The most important thing to remember is that you appoint a coach to learn from them, to seize the best opportunity in order to grow and achieve the desired goals this can only take place in an environment of respect. A coachee should respect his coach and be thankful. 2. Communication- If you can’t communicate, you can’t do it the reason is that communication is the key to the success of a coach. If their clients are unable to communicate their needs and aspirations to the coach they would never be able to set agenda in order to achieve those goals. 3. Dedication and hard work- all the coaches around the globe want to see their clients succeed and this can only happen through dedication and hard work throughout each coaching session. The point to remember is that a quote alone cannot achieve all the targets he needs the full support of the Coachee. 4. Reliability- Your coach anticipates that your work will be completed. When you hire a coach for one-on-one time, your coach reserves time in their schedule for you. Changing schedules will create a huge impact on the coach. Every coach has different scheduling policies, and every coach has different flexibility, but just be considerate of their time. 5. Feedback- Feedback is the necessity of one step ahead. Not only does a coach need to give feedback but they also need to receive one. It often happens that the techniques used by the coach are not well suited for the coachee, in such cases feedback comes to the rescue. PAGE - 09 | WWW.XMONKS.COM | A Journey Into & Expansion Monks
