DEFORESTATION By: Jason L. Coronel
What is Deforestation? ● ● ● A large-scale removal of trees from forests A serious environmental concern Also a contributor to climate change and global warming.
Causes of Deforestation Human Activities • Agriculture • Logging • Mining and urban expansion
Effect of Deforestation in the Environment • Increased carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere • Contributes towards increased carbon dioxide emissions • Changes the water cycle • Soil erosion
Deforestation: A Few Solutions That Can Change The Future September 18, 2019 by John William As we can see, the world is on an extreme urge to slow down the pace of climate change by: • saving water, • preserving wildlife, and • planting more and more trees.
Why Forest Matters Forest covers around 30% of the world’s surface area.. The world has lost 1.3 million square kilometers that is equal to 502,000 square miles of forest, between 1990 and 2016; this is the area larger than South Africa. Moreover, 46% of the trees have been felled since humans started cutting down primary forests. Around 17% of the Amazonian rainforest has been destroyed over the last five decades, and the loss is being on the rise exponentially.
Impact of Deforestation Preventing deforestation is the only trend scientists prefer now to call for a practical impact on climate change. According to an estimated worth, tropical trees cover 23% of climate mitigation alone, which is needed over the upcoming decade to meet the environmental preservation goals set in 2015 by the Paris Agreement for Environment Protection.

Conclusion A considerable number of organizations are realizing the need for trees as an essential part of saving the planet. However, there are influential stakeholders making profits and generating revenues without considering the hazardous effects on the land.
