The Role of Curcumin in Slowing Down the Cancer Growth Curcumin is a substance found in turmeric, a yellow-colored spice widely used not only  for its aromatic features and distinguished taste in many cuisines but also for its  medicinal properties in the number of traditional as well as modern treatments. Studies  show that Curcumin slow down the growth of cancer cells in the human body therefore  prevent or treat cancer.  Cancer is basically a hyperproliferative disease that is treated by chemotherapeutic  agents, which are highly toxic not only to tumor cells but also to normal cells, therefore,  imposing a high level of side-effects on the body.
