  1. Skin Care Routine for Rosacea According to Dermatologists If you have rosacea and it’s starting to affect your self-esteem or make your life uncomfortable, don’t worry. The right skin care routine can help stop (or at least reduce) flare-ups. Dermatologists share some of the things you can do to manage this condition: 1. Identify and avoid your triggers. Rosacea happens when your skin becomes hypersensitive to your environment and overreacts to certain triggers, such as alcohol, hot beverages, heat, stress, and certain types of food. Keep track of your activities and things you eat and drink, so you can determine how they affect your skin. Once you know your triggers, you can avoid them. 2. Choose the right cleanser. Having a non-drying and mild cleanser is a good part of rosacea treatment. Avoid scrubs and harsh cleansers that tend to remove natural oils from the skin, causing inflammation and dryness. Look for soap-free and gentle cleansers that can effectively remove oil and dirt without affecting the skin barrier. 3. Don’t forget to moisturise!

  2. Moisturising is an important part of skin care for rosacea. Make sure to choose a produce that is gentle and fragrance-free, without anti-ageing ingredients. Check the label and consider ingredients like ceramides or purified petrolatum. Take note that some labels may say ‘lotion,’ but the product can be applied to the face, too. Apply moisturiser on damp skin to help lock in the moisture. 4. Use certain products sparingly. Remember: Less is more when it comes to rosacea treatment. It usually helps to not use too many products on your face. Try double-duty formulations. For example, you can invest in a good green-tinted base with sunscreen that also helps camouflage the redness. You can also consider using mineral makeup with anti-inflammatory and calming ingredients, like zinc, which also doubles as sun protection. 5. Take care of your eyes. Rosacea typically affects the skin, but it can also occur on the eyes. Known as ocular rosacea, the condition causes bloodshot eyes, swelling on the eyelids, and in some cases, styes. If left untreated, ocular rosacea can cause vision loss and corneal damage. This is why it’s important to use fragrance-free and allergy-tested skin care products and makeup for the eyes. 6. Wear sunscreen. Over 80 percent of people who need rosacea treatment say that sun exposure is their major trigger. If this sounds like you, be sure to wear sunblock when going out. Choose a non-chemical sunscreen that has titanium dioxide or zinc as the main ingredient. The formulation should protect against UVA/UVB. There’s no need to overspend; sunscreen with at least SPF 30 will work. Apply it before heading out. 7. Avoid exfoliation. Regular exfoliation may be recommended for most people but not for rosacea. Exfoliants may worsen the situation because they are abrasive and disrupt the skin barrier. You should also avoid scrubbing your face with sponges or washcloths. Make your condition manageable If you are looking for reliable and effective rosacea treatment, don’t hesitate to consult with our team at DMK Skincare. We’ll assess your skin and recommend the best solutions to help manage rosacea, so you can reduce flare-ups and start feeling great about yourself again.
