3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY  Veer Narmad South Gujarat University ( VNSGU) is now more than 50 years old. The university is a prime contributor to the education and education movement across south Gujrat. The university has produced numerous notable graduates from time to time.  Moreover, the university has notable alumnus like Ahmad Patel, Phoolchand Gupta, Dhawnil Parekh, Esha Dadawala among others. Furthermore, the university is accredited with a grade “A” by NAAC moreover the university. The university has rigorously developed its courses and standings. Presently the university offers as many as 408 courses across a varied field of studies.

5. HISTORY  The idea of the university was laid by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Bhailalbhai Patel( Bhaikaka). It was in 1942 when Bhaikaka was approached by Sardar Patel. Sardar Patel in his approach suggested Bhaikaka leave his engineering work and live for the upliftment of rural India and join him in the course. Thus Bhaikaka left his job and joined Sardar Patel to do the works. In 1943 the idea of forming a university was founded. In 1945 a society was established and farmers poured out in great numbers and contributed land totaling 500 acres for the formation of the university.  Later in 1947, Shri Vithalbhai Patel Science college was started with affiliations from Mumbai University. In 1948 Lord Mount Batten inaugurated the Engineering College and in 1949 the colleges were shifted to Gujarat University. Sardar Vallabhbhai Vidyapith was established in 1955 and in 1968 the name was changed to Sardar Patel University.
