  5. HISTORY  As there were very few higher education institutions in Rajkot, Gujarat, the Sarvodaya relevant Samaj envisioned establishing one. Under the blessings of Lord Swaminarayan and His Divine Holiness, Hariprasad Swamiji Maharaj, it was established. Moreover, the university is run by P.P Tyagvallabh Swamiji.  Since then, Atmiya University has achieved many milestones in the field of imparting education. In fact, it was the first university in Gujarat to start undergraduate degree courses in Computer application and science. Additionally, Atmiya was the first institution in Gujarat that was selected by UGC to start Post-graduate courses
