  3. WHAT IS FERTILITY AND INFERTILITY? Fertility is defined as the natural capacity to conceive a child. However, fertility does not come easily to everyone. Few couples will face infertility—the inability to conceive naturally after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse. Infertility is not only a female health issue. Both men and women can experience infertility.

INFERTILITY IN MEN? • Sperm count, or the number of sperm • Shape of the sperm • Movement of the sperm, which includes both the wiggling motion of the sperm themselves and the transport of the sperm through the tubes of the male reproductive system • Abnormal sperm production or function due to health problems. • Problems with the delivery of sperm due to sexual problems, such as premature ejaculation and certain genetic diseases • Overexposure to certain environmental factors, Cigarette smoking and alcohol. • Damage related to cancer and its treatment, including radiation or chemotherapy. Treatment for cancer can impair sperm production
