  3. Warm Up: Antiviral • Write the prefix and suffix • Write the root word • Write the definition using the root • Use the word in a sentence • Make a new word with the root

  4. Antiviral • anti- and –al suffix • virus • To work against a virus • The antiviral medicine helped cure the disease. • Viral, viruses

  5. Grammar and Parts of Speech

  6. Pronouns are words to used to replace nouns. Examples of pronouns: He, she, I, you, they, and we are all pronouns

  7. So, instead of saying: John plays baseball. John plays 3rd base. John is number 12.

  8. You could say: John plays baseball. He plays 3rd base. He is number 12.

  19. Remember: Fairy Tales are fanciful stories made for children, about elves, hobgoblins, dragons, fairies, or other magical creatures. They usually have a happy endings.

  20. Remember: Mood is the atmosphere or feeling created in the reader or viewer as they explore a “text.”
