VU Smart Care Troubleshooting Tips: Unknown or Unauthorized User Error in Sign-on Screen • Make sure PIN is set up in Virtual • Tap the card reader BEFORE tapping spacebar or doing a mouse click • If login prompt is visible the Smart card reader will NOT work • Causes: tapping spacebar or a mouse click *before* tapping their badge • Other HID-type cards can interfere • Make sure that *only* the ID badge is being tapped onto the reader • Parking pass cards and other smart cards can cause this error • Card requires 1-24h from being made to become active, after 24h and can’t sign on please put in a HD ticket, include CWS ID, userID and time of day
