SMU IT System Logins Samuel Merritt University faculty and staff will access the following internal IT systems/platforms on a regular basis: • Total Access: SMU’s single sign on technology • VPN: Being connected to SMU’s virtual private network (VPN) allows users who are working wirelessly on campus or who are working remotely to access many of SMU’s IT resources/platforms as if they are on campus and connected to the ethernet • Service Desk Ticketing System (Cherwell): Enables faculty and staff to submit work orders/help desk tickets for multiple service areas including facilities, telephone, media services, and information technology • Canvas: Canvas is SMU’s Learning Management System (LMS)

SMU Total Access The SMU Total Access webpage provides convenient quicklaunchoptions to SMU web and mobile applications and Sutter Health employee resources, direct access to social media sites, and campus event and alert feeds. Users will also be required to log in to Total Access when viewing secure areas of the SMU website. http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/totalaccess

  4. SMU VPN There are two ways to use to SMU’s virtual private network (VPN): • Cisco AnyConnect Client – requires software to be installed on the PC or Mac. Cisco AnyConnect Client comes standard with any SMU issued computer. • SSLVPN – accessed through the web at: https://sslvpn.samuelmerritt.edu. To access the sslvpn site, follow the steps outlined in the following article: http://www.samuelmerritt.edu/helpdesk/faq/accessing-ascend-travel-and-expense-campus. Note: you must be connected to a Wi-Finetwork in order to use VPN.
