  1. Living orNon-Living Pre-K Investigation October 18, 2012

  2. On October 18th, our Pre-K students were learning about living and non-living. We looked at some examples of different items and discussed what made them living vs. non-living. We determined that things living need food, water, and air. Next we used an interactive game on our screen to sort out some items. Here are our results:

  3. Next, we went outside to see if the information transferred to real life. We used magnifying glasses to observe things in our environment. We used labels to mark if we thought items were living or non-living.

  4. Last, we headed to the science lab to discuss our results. We got to look at pictures of what all the other groups found. We then took that information and wrote down our results.

  5. Transfer • Later, while playing in centers, we heard students telling each other if something was living or non-living. We had a student point out that the blocks in our class were non-living. They also looked at some stuffed animals. We had a debate if they were living or not. The students concluded that if it were a real animal, it would be living. Since it was stuffed, they determined it was non-living.
