  1. Appropriate Frame Hire two new staff members 1 0% 50% 100% Creative, Doable Alternatives All applicants resumes were screened by Human Resources and an initial interview was conducted with HR. The top three candidates were selected and forwarded to the hiring team. 2 0% 50% 100% Meaningful, Reliable Information Interviews with candidates were scheduled. 3 0% 50% 100% Prior to interviews all candidates were provided the interview questions. Clear Values and Trade-offs 4 0% 50% 100% Logically Correct Reasoning 5 0% 50% 100% Two candidates were selected: one based on the answers she provided in the interview; the other based on his friendship with one of the hiring officials on the interview panel. She was able to “vouch” for the candidate even though her answers were not the “best answers”. Commitment to Action All parties in the hiring decision were committed to filling the positions advertised. 6 0% 50% 100% I think this was a bad decision based on lack of reliable information. No additional questions, nor any follow-up questions regarding candidate answers were asked during the interview process. There were no guarantees that the answers candidates gave were based on their own knowledge, or “research” for the “best answer” to the questions before the interview began. Interestingly enough, the candidate with the “best answers” was not a good fit and ultimately let go. The candidate who was friends with one of the hiring officials ended up being a great asset to the team and went on to be promoted several times within the company. I’m not sure anything was learned as this is still the current hiring process with that company. .
