  10. ATTENDANCE HIGHEST SECONDARY ATTENDANCE % IN THE DISTRICT AT 95.2%. Attendance Incentive – “Jeans NO Tuck” on Fridays for the grade level that reaches 96% for the week. PLAIN JEANS – no colors, no frays, no holes Last year it was 95%, our overall average was 95.2%

PBIS / CHAMPS • REWARDS - Punch Cards • All students wear a punch card with their ID, as part of our positive behavior intervention system. • Students must have a punch card to receive a pass to leave the classroom. • Students who receive 3 or less punches for a six weeks period are invited to a grade level REWARD PARTY! • Students who receive NO PUNCHES attend the reward party, plus get FREE DRESS for an entire week! • Students may receive a punch from any adult in the building for: • Dress code violation • ID violation • Misbehavior • Leaving class • If a student loses or forgets their card one day, they are no longer eligible for the rewards party that six weeks period. • If a punch card is lost, a new voided one may be purchased for $5.

  16. ADMIRAL TIME ADMIRAL TIME and HOMEPORT Students are alphabetically assigned to a “HOMEPORT” that meets during what we call “Admiral Time”. Admiral Time is 20 minutes during the day. What happens during AT? Tutuorials / remediation / weekly grade reports / information / assemblies

  17. MANDATORY MONDAY MANDATORY MONDAYS If your student is missing any work, you will receive a phone call on Thursday evening. The call says that your student has until Friday to turn in the work. If your student does not turn the work in on Friday, you will receive a call on Sunday night informing you that your student has “MANDATORY MONDAY” from 4:15-5:15. Bus riders will have access to a bus, all others will need to be picked up no later than 5:20.

  18. LOCKERS PARENT EXPECTATIONS – please understand Students are not allowed to share lockers. Anything found in a locker is considered the property of the student… whether it is theirs or not. Searches of lockers may take place at any time.

  19. DROP OFF / PICK UP PARENT EXPECTATIONS Follow directions of parking lot monitors. Drop off in the EAST parking lot (JBS). Student exit vehicle at the crosswalk ONLY. Athletics/band/orchestra in the morning drop off in West parking lot. No drop off after 8:00am in the mornings in West parking lot. Pick up in the EAST parking lot. Students enter vehicle at the crosswalk ONLY. No pick up in the WEST parking lot. Maple is a BUS ZONE, beginning at the school parking lot, NO PICK UP. Pick up at Monclaire is not monitored by staff.

  20. CAFETERIA opens at 8:15 • Breakfast is served to ALL students for NO CHARGE. • Students stay in cafeteria or New gym during inclement weather. BREAKFAST

  21. Lunch Time • Best to put money in student account online. • If not, send money that will be put in account. • You can MONITOR purchases online. 7th Lunch 12:01 p.m. – 12:32 p.m. 8th Lunch 12:56 p.m. – 1:27 p.m. 9th Lunch 1:27 p.m. – 1:58 p.m.

LUNCH • PARENT EXPECTATIONS FOR SIGNING STUDENT OUT OF SCHOOL • Parent must sign student out at the attendance desk and wait for the student. • Give Doctor/dentist note to attendance clerk when student is signed back in. • Emergency contacts may not check students out ONLY if it is an emergency. Parent must call the school and let them know that the emergency contact will be pick up. • Emergency contacts may take students to medical appointments. Parent needs to contact the school.

  23. LUNCH • PARENT EXPECTATIONS FOR LUNCH • Parent must sign student out at the attendance desk and wait for the student. • Parent must sign student back in at the attendance desk with the student. Students may not bring any outside food /drinks into the building. • Students may bring a sack lunch to school in the morning. • No outside food is delivered to students during lunchtime. • Emergency contacts may not take students to lunch. • Emergency contact may take students to a medical appointment.

  24. Parent Dress Code Expectations • Dress appropriately when you come to school. • Please no pajamas, houseshoes, cleavage, bare mid-drifts, tank tops and excessively tight clothing.

Dress Code - STUDENTS • SHIRTS – navy, white, yellow/gold • PANTS/SHORTS – navy, khaki • SKIRTS – to the knee • BELTS –black or brown leather style • IDs – school issued on school lanyard • SWEATERS – pullovers and cardigans, navy, white, yellow/gold • SWEATSHIRTS – crew neck, no logos, • JACKETS –must be left in locker • NJHS will be selling approved zippered sweatshirt • No “logos” on anything • No “bling” or decorations on belts • No Hoodies

  27. Students may not have notches or shaved areas on their eyebrows.NO piercing visible other than the ear. No spacers allowed.

  28. Standard Attire Expectations • No logos • If your clothing has a logo, a patch must be worn over it • Patches are available in the front office for $1.00 • Coats may not be worn in the building

  29. Disruptive, unsafe or distractive modes of clothes, eyewear, tattoos or appearances that adversely impact the education process are not acceptable.

  30. Cell Phone • Phones must be in the “off” position and put away • Student use of phones during the school day is prohibited unless authorized by a teacher/administrator • $15 charge for confiscated phones – can only be collected after school between 4:15 – 5:00.

  31. 1st day of school • MONDAY • Drop off in EAST parking lot • Students go to BLACKTOP • Enter building and find name on a posted grade level list with room assignment • STAFF WILL HELP ! • Report to Home Port for Orientation • Receive SCHEDULE in Home Port • TUESDAY • Report to Home Port for second day of Orientation
