AUDIOMETRY SHORT COURSE 2013 The course complies with the unit standard: 252126, written for the performance of an audiometric screening test in industry, successful completion will enable the candidate to conduct screening audiometry in the occupational setting and register as an Audiometrist • ACCREDITATION / CERTIFICATION • The course is registered at NQF Level 5 (4 credits) and is accredited by the HPCSA for 28 CPD points • Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Competence • WHO SHOULD ATTEND • Health care professionals/workers conducting audiometric testing in the occupational setting • DURATION TIME COST • 4 days (3 days + 1 exam day) 08H00 to 16H00 R3 999 excl. VAT • PREREQUISITE • A matric / grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification • Access to medical facility for completion of post course case studies • Booking is essential, booking forms available from coursebookings@ocsa.co.za • Payment must be settled before training is undertaken INCLUDED IN FEE • Subject matter expert • Training manual • Handouts • Assessments and marking / moderation • Certification • Equipment and consumables for training • Coffee / tea and light lunch • COURSE CONTENT • Anatomy and physiology of hearing • Audiometry equipment • Measuring hearing acuity • Identification of hearing impairment • Hearing conservation • COURSE OUTCOMES • Ensuring equipment meets established standards • Preparing a client for an audiometric examination • Conduct a manual and automatic test • Interpret, evaluate, record and report test results
