LEARNING OBJECTIVES • Students are able to mention the definition of descriptive text, its purpose, 3 kinds of it, and its structure • Students are able to explain about the descriptive text given by the teacher comprehensively • Students are able to guess correctly the name of the places or things that are described in the text given by the teacher • Students are able to choose the right sentences and suitable with the description of the picture displayed

  6. DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

  7. DEFINITION Descriptive is a genre of a text to describe what something looks like. For examples: - the description of a place - the description of people/person - the description of thing. In the description of a person, the text will tell a person’s appearance.

  8. PURPOSE The purpose of a descriptive text is to describe a particular place, people/person, or thing.

  11. Model of descriptive text a. Model of description of a place Identification Roni and Dini study at SMP 3, their school has a nice library. The Library is not so big, but it has a lot of books, newspapers and magazines. Description The students like coming to the library. The room is comfortable, air-conditioned and always full of visitors. They go there to read, or borrow some books they like. They are served by Mrs. Yulia and Mr. Bahrul. These librarians have been working there for twenty years.  

  12. b. Model of description of a person Identification I describe one girl. Description She is seventeen years old. She lives in Castellod’Empúries and she is studying first of batxillerat and we are going to same class. Her hair is brown, her eyes are honey color. Moreover, she has a small nose and a big small. Today she is wearing a brown and white sweater, blue trouser and black shoes. She is always very happy, but this week she is a little sad because her dog died last Saturday. Moreover, she always is very talkative; in every classroom she talks and talks!! Her favorite hobby is basketball, when she was little; she played in Esplais de Castelló. And also likes going by bicycle and walking for a month. She is a person of nature and forest. In the school she sometimes gets good marks in all subjects. Her favorite singer is Laura Pausini, and other. In my opinion she is an open-minded person and she is also very king

  13. c. Model of description of thing Identification My first car was old and ugly but I loved it anyway. Description The main point color was black, but it also had blue, green, yellow, and white paint in different places. The body was in terrible condition. It had several big dents. The hood lock was broken, so I had to tie it down with a strong rope. Also, the back bumper was rusty, and the front window was cracked. The inside of the car was also a disaster. The inside door handle on the passenger side was missing, so you couldn’t open the passenger door from inside. The seats had at least ten holes in them. Also the gas gauge was broken. It always showed “full”, so I often ran out of gas. The speedometer was broken too, so I never knew how fast I was driving. Like a first love, my old VW had a few faults, but to me it was perfect.

We can bargain when we want to buy something there. Sometimes we have to jostle with a lot of people there. What is it? Description 4 I inhabit a small area in south-western Western Australia. My species was quite widespread in Australia before European settlement but now we are endangered.I prefer areas of open woodland. I forage for my food in the mornings and afternoons. At night I sleep in hollow logs or under fallen timber.My body is about 25 centimeters long. My bushy tail is nearly as long as my body. I am covered in a reddish-brown coat with white stripes. My front legs are shorter then my back legs and I have small claws.My ears are short but my snout is long I have a very long, sticky tongue for eating termites I can eat over 10000 termites in one day.I am a marsupial mammal. What animal am I?
