  1. Water Street Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) Analysis (Drainage Study)City of PlattevilleCommon Council Presented by: Caroline Burger, P.E. Theran Jacobson, E.I.T. AECOM Madison, WI

  2. Outline • Existing Conditions • Fire Station Impacts • Alternatives • Cost Estimates • Conclusions • Recommendations

  3. Existing Conditions

  4. Fire Station Impacts • Fire Station Location #1 and #2 were modeled separately • Purpose was to determine the individual impact from each • Modeling indicates neither location will “adversely impact” the Water Street Basin “Adversely impact” means increasing water surface elevations Location #1 Location #2

  5. Alternatives • Regrade Open Channel • Replace Open Channel with Box Culvert • Construct Stormwater Pond • Combination of 1 - 3

  6. Alternatives - Scenario 1 • Regrade open channel • Reconstruct junction • Results in no adverse impacts Location #1

  7. Alternatives - Scenario 2 • Replace open channel with box culvert • Reconstruct junction • Results in no adverse impacts Location #1

  8. Alternatives – Scenario 3 • Replace open channel with box culvert • Results in adverse impacts Location #2

  9. Alternatives – Scenario 4 Location #1 • Construct stormwater pond by high school • Results in no adverse impacts Location #2

  10. Alternatives – Scenarios 5-7 • Scenario 5: Combination of Open Channel at Location 1 and pond • Scenario 6: Combination of Box Culvert at Location 1 and pond • Scenario 7: Combination of Box Culvert at Location 2 and pond • All result in no adverse impacts Location #1 Location #2

  11. Cost Estimates Location #1 Location #2

  12. Conclusions • A Fire Station at either location will not adversely impact the basin • Improvements to Location 1 will not adversely impact the basin • Improvements to Location 2 will adversely impact the basin • If Location 2 is chosen, the stormwater pond must also be constructed • The stormwater pond will reduce water surface elevations in the basin Location #1 Location #2

  13. Recommendations • Proceed with the selection of the Fire Station location • The junction box downstream of location 1 and the sanitary main adjacent to location 1 should be addressed • Conveyance improvements will likely require permitting – meet with WDNR staff early during design Location #1 Location #2
