  6. “Greater Expectations” in Georgia • Faculty surveys and focus groups • Council on General Education assumes more proactive role—common learning outcomes for the core curriculum • Learning outcomes for courses in the core curriculum • Expanded role and responsibilities for core curriculum transfer ombuds

  7. “Greater Expectations” in Georgia • Team of 12 attended AACU Greater Expectations(GE)Forum in November 2003 • Developed plan to expand engagement • Working more closely with Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs • Greater Expectations theme for CAO’s (2004-2006)

  8. “Greater Expectations” in Georgia • CAO’s met in April 2004 to discuss GE Report and its implications for the University System • Prioritized issues associated with the priorities in the report • Invited Carol Schneider to CAO and CSO joint summer meeting in July 2004

  9. Next Steps • Plan to meet with 34 campus ‘ombuds’ in October 2004 • ‘Develop’ core purpose statement for the System • Continue to keep learning outcomes for the core on the forefront for discussion

  10. More Next Steps • Assist institutions with assessment of the core curriculum • Tie Greater Expectations for Student Transfer to other related initiatives i.e. retention, etc. • Make available AACU membership opportunities
