4. The Register • Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) are officially approved on behalf of the Secretary of State • This status demands the highest standards • Teaching people to drive is a responsible and demanding task – it should only be entrusted to those with a keen regard for road safety • ADI’s are expected to have standards of driving and behaviour above that of the ordinary motorist

5. The Register The conditions for entry extend beyond instructional ability alone and require that the applicant is a fit and proper person Account is taken of a person’s character, behaviour and standard of conduct

My priorities Ensure that the right people, with the right motivations enter the profession Ensure that evidence is provided to support applications for further trainee licence Ensure that any notified convictions are followed up Robust stance on continued cancellation or failure to attend for check test – and evidence to support cancellation
