  4. Easy to Find Self-Help

  5. If You Can’t Log In www.edusoft.com If using an older MAC (OS 9) Edusoft recommends that you use Internet Explorer as your browser. If using MAC OS 10.3 or higher, use Safari. Firefox also seems to work with both old and new MACS. You must also download Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 or higher.

  6. What Will It Do for Me? • Parent Conference Student Reports • 2. Required District Assessments 3. Facilitate Team Discussions for Improved Strategies 4. Better Summative and Formative Assessments

  7. Parent Conferences

  8. See handout: “Creating Edusoft Reports for Parent Conferences”

  9. Type the student’s first and last name on the left, then click SEARCH.

  10. Click the student’s name, then click continue.

  11. This screen gives you all the assessments you can choose to view for this student.

  12. These are tests in the Benchmark Tab – notice, pull down to view the number of months -

  13. The third tab, Teacher Tools, would show any tests you or other teachers have created that you have given. Notice you can select to view overall assessments, standards, percent, and raw scores.

  14. The next screen lets you review the tests you have selected to review, allowing you to go back and make any changes.

  15. The next screen gives you three viewing choices. For parent conferences, just use the Printer-friendly view.

  16. The next screen gives you a pdf file you can print out to share with the parent at the next conference.

  17. To view/print several students’ scores at one time, click multiple student performance reports.

  18. From here you can choose all students, specific individual students, or students based on specific demographics.

  19. Another helpful report is the Class List Report. Select Benchmark Exams/Reports/ Class List Reports. See Creating Edusoft Assessment Reports handout, “Class List Reports”

  20. Class List Reports

  21. This takes you to the test folders, such as benchmark tests for ELA, math, and science. Inside ELA, for example, are subfolders for IRI, Literacy Tests (K), and Writing assessments.

  22. Scroll down past DISTRICT BENCHMARKS ONLY, and locate K-5 Assessments. Open this folder to find Content Area Assessments. In here are Elementary Math Tests, including Envision Math, as well as …

  23. Houghton Mifflin Reading Summative Tests.

  24. Choose the benchmark content area and grade level you wish to view, then hit continue.

  25. Choose how you want to view your report. Usually, de-select percentage, select Specific Bands, and check to highlight the Below Basic overall band, then continue.

  26. On this screen, you can choose to view your class list as a whole, or to view by ethnicities, custom groups, gender, etc. When you have made your selections, click “Run report now”.

  27. You will get a message asking you to open the report with Adobe Acrobat, or to save the file. Open the file, view, and then print or save.

  28. How to Print Scan Sheets

  29. Open District Benchmarks ONLY folder, then the subject and grade-level folder on the left. Then select the assessment you want on the right. Finally, click print answer sheets on the bottom right.

  30. On the next screen de-select generic answer sheet, unless you have a new student that is not yet in Edusoft.

  31. On the next screen, just select your name and continue.

  32. You will then get a pdf file to print and give to students, or to bubble in the scores yourself (class roster scan sheet, i.e. writing assessments). DO NOT select the file/print menu in your browser. If the scan sheet doesn’t open in Acrobat as a pdf, then you need to download the free Acrobat Reader first. If printing a class set, DO NOT print on a RISO. Also, do not enlarge or shrink, because these will not scan properly.

  33. Place the scan sheets in the top of the scanner, face up, head first – the top of the sheets should feed first into the feed tray.

  34. Do not open the lid of the scanner, as if you are copying a sheet.

  35. Leave the lid closed. Instead, place the sheets in the top tray, face up, “head” first. The black squares will be at the end. Do not click the “scan” button on the scanner. Instead, move now to the computer to operate the scanner.

  36. On the computer attached to the scanner, click on the Edusoft Grader icon. When the program opens, type in your login and password, then click the orange button on the bottom right. When ready, click the scan button.

  37. After the documents scan, you will get a message asking you to now upload the scans. Click “upload”.

  38. After uploading the scans, the next screen asks if you want to view the results. Click the orange “view results” button. A black screen will appear for a few seconds. Be patient. Then………..

  39. The “Session Detail” screen will show you the results of the scans, and will let you know if any of the scans failed. It will also show any images of scan sheets that could not be identified, and give you the opportunity to identify them.

  40. The HM Summative assessments are also now available in Edusoft. Go to Benchmarks/Assessments/K-5 Assessments, then the HM folder.

  41. To create your own scan assessment from a test you have already created, start with the Teacher Tools tab, then click Assessments. Have a copy and answer sheet of the test readily available.

  42. After clicking on Assessments, next click ALIGN EXISTING TEST.

  43. On the next screen, click My Tests, then click CONTINUE on the bottom left.

  44. Enter a name for the test, and give a general description, such as the test date, or further information. Then click CONTINUE. You can leave the Standards Group on the default..

  45. On the next screen, you must choose a standards subject category from the pull-down menu, and then...

  46. choose a grade-level category and click CONTINUE.

  47. The next screen will show you all the standards for the subject and grade level you chose. Check the standards that will apply to this test. You MUST pick at least ONE. Then click CONTINUE.

  48. For this sample I’m going to ask Language Arts questions, so I chose four language arts standards. Click CONTINUE.

  49. I’m going to just create a scan sheet for an ELA multiple choice test (10 questions) that I have previously created, and will hand out to the students. • How should the underlined word in sentence 17 be written? • Youre • Your • Youre’ • Leave as is. • How should sentence 20 be changed to maintain a consistent point of view? • A. Eliminate it so that images already presented are not repeated. • B. Divide it into four short sentences, one for each action • described. • C. Rewrite I tin the first person to match the previous two sentences. • D. Omit the pronouns to transform descriptions into simple commands.
