  2. ProjectAssignment • We were given the opportunity to create a media kit for the eXpressions program offered by The Cleveland Clinic’s Office of Civil Education Initiatives. • The goal is to get attention from media outlets and local high schools about the eXpressions program. • The success of the media kit will be measured by the amount of interest garnered in the program.

  3. Background for Cleveland office • The Cleveland Clinic’s Office of Civil Education Initiatives (OCEI) promotes innovative programs that are intended to enhance children’s education in Northeast Ohio schools. • Focus: Math, Science, and Health • Medical professionals from the Clinic visit elementary and middle school classes and speak to them about important health issues. • Students then create art projects to express what the interns researched.

  4. Background for expressions • The eXpressions program specifically targets high school students and uses art, language, and math to increase their interest in scientific research. • Students in the art and language department produce their own creative interpretations of research conducted by Cleveland Clinic interns. • Students in the eXpressions math program must examine both an artistic and literary interpretations of a research project and demonstrate how math played an integral role in each one.

  5. Expressions Continued • The peer to peer setting of eXpressionsencourages students to be cooperative, flexible, and thoughtful. • This program gives its participants a real world understanding of how their skills can be applied in the work environment. • The eXpressions program can benefit both high school students and their teachers by providing them with the opportunity to ear under graduate and graduate credit from many Universities in Northeast Ohio.

  6. Target Audience • Our target audience for whom we are promoting the eXpressions program is any media outlet in Northeast Ohio. • Other sectors of our audience include local high schools, including administrators, teachers, and students

  7. Current Brand Attitude • eXpressions program needs to grow • The media kit needs to be improved to get more attention • eXpressions program is a great opportunity for student and teachers

  8. Desired Brand Attitude • Encourage students to take part in eXpressions • Understand how science is connected to math, language, and art • Increase awareness of the eXpressions program in the community

  9. Desired Goals for Media Kit • Our aim was to create a media kit that reflective the type of creativity and knowledge perpetuated by the eXpressions program. • A media kit of this sort will be distributed to Northeastern Ohio media outlets so they can adequately inform the masses about this amazing program that The Cleveland Clinic has developed. • Our media kit should then attract more participants to the eXpressions program.

  10. Creative Approaches • 1. 3D Brain design • 2. Decorated box • 3. Semi-circle 2D brain design portfolio

  11. Brain Media Kit • Semi-circle folder construction • Top of folder has brain design • Different color folder for each section of eXpressions inside • Each folder contains the information for that part of program

  12. Factors Included • Originally tried 3D design • Had problems, so shifted to 2D portfolio • Needed to make it original • Wanted to connect the three parts of the program • Decided on brain imagery

  13. Product Development
