  2. Winter Palace • It was built in 1754-1762 by the architect BartolomeoRastrelli. Today the rooms of the Winter Palace house the collections of the Hermitage.

  3. Mikhailovsky Palace In 1895 the emperor Alexander the third ordered that a State Russian Museum be inaugurated here .The palace was turned into a museum of Russian Art. At the present time, the collection of State Russian Museum amount to about 400,000 exihibits. The Mikhailovsky Palace was built after the design of the architect Carlo Rossi between 1819 and 1825. The palace was erected for the youngest son of Paul the first , Grand Duke Mikhail.

  4. Stroganov Palace The Stroganov Palace stands at the corner of Nevsky Prospect and Moika Embankment . This palace is a fine monument of the Elizabethan Baroque. It is an outstanding work by the architect BartolomeoRastrelli. This palace was erected between 1753 and 1754. In 1988, the building become a branch of the State Russian Museam.

  5. Mariinsky Palace. The Mariinsky Palace built between 1839 and 1844 after the design of the architect AndreyStakenschneider for the daughter of Nicholas the first . Between 1906 and 1907 the palace was rebuilt. The Structure become the seat of the State Council. The palace was constructed in the classical style.

  6. Summer Palace The park was chosen by Alexander Pushkin as a setting for childhood walks of the fictional character Eugene Onegin The Summer Palace is a residence of Peter the Great. It was built in 1710-1714 by the architect DomenicoTrezzini.

  7. Tauride Palace It was built between 1783-1789 by the architect Ivan Starov. Since the 1990s, Tauride Palace has been home to the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS).

  8. Gatchina Palace The Great Gatchina Palace was built in 1766–1781 by Antonio Rinaldi for Count GrigoriGrigoryevichOrlov who was a favourite of Catherine II.

  9. Priory PalaceGatchina It was built in 1799 by the architect N. A. Lvov on the shore of the Black Lake and constructed for the Russian Grand Priory of the Order of St John.

  10. Alexander Palace The palace was built in 1792-1796 by the architect GiacomoQuarenghi. . The Alexander Palace is situated in the Alexander Park, not far from the large Catherine Palace.

  11. Catherine Palace Thebuildingwaslaidin 1717 byorderofRussianEmpressCatherine I . TheCatherinePalaceis a Rococopalace , locatedinthetownofTsarskoyeSelo (Pushkin), 25 kmsoutheastofSt. Petersburg.ItwasthesummerresidenceoftheRussiantsars.

  12. Peterhof Palace ThePeterhofPalace was laidoutaccoding to theorderofPetertheGreat. The Palace and the garden are often called "RussianVersailles".
