  2. Crystal form • The word Crystal comes from the Greek word for ice • The ancient Greeks believed that Quartz crystals were made from water which had frozen solid and would not melt.

  3. Crystal form • The visible expression of a mineral’s internal arrangement of atoms. • Errr.. • the atoms or ions that make up a mineral are arranged in an orderly and repetitive manner.

  4. Minerals grow in specific shapes, and usually crystallize into one of six crystal systems. The axes of the crystal, the angles at which the axes intersect, and the degree of symmetry define each system.

  5. Isometric

  6. Tetragonal

  7. Hexagonal

  8. Orthorhombic

  9. Monoclinic gypsum.

  10. Triclinic
