  2. Austria-Hungary In the year 1848 the corvee was finally abolished. An emperor Franz Joseph l. wanted to ruled absolutistic, but Habsburks suffered a few defeats. In 1859 after the battle of Solferino they lost a territory in Italy and in 1866 they were defeated by the Prussia and then they were expelled from the German Confederation. The emperor retreated to Hungarian. Then in the year 1867 developed Austria-Hungary.

  3. In 1860 was published October diploma, in which Franz Joseph l. gave up of absolutictic power. In 1869 was legitimazed eight years compulsory school attendance. In years 1868-1883 was built National theatre and in 1885-1891 National Museum. The year 1882 was important for Charles University-it was divided to Czech and German part.

  4. In the year 1886 Thomas Garrigue Masaryk founded out, that Královédvorský and Zelenohorský manuscripts are fakes. The manuscripts forged by Václav Hanka and Josef Linda in 1817, because they wanted to be rich and famous. In 1890 was established an Academy of Sciences by Franz Joseph l.. The academy was devided to four sections. In Manifesto of Czech modernism from 1895 were formuled expectations and requirements of a new generation. Then in the year 1914 broke out a first world war.
