  4. Individualized Support • Induction is intended to be individualized, based on the knowledge, skills and abilities teachers bring to the profession.

  5. Support Providers are best able to differentiate when they: • Know about strengths and goals of the PT • Observe and identify evidence of practice • Assist PTs with deepening their understanding through inquiry and reflection

  6. Bridging Pre-ServiceThink, Write, Share • What are some of your strengths as a teacher? • What areas do you want to focus on this year?

  7. Formative Assessment • Performance of a learner collected over time – practice improves over time • Examined against a standard (CSTP, Induction Standards 15-20 • Encourages reflection • Uses evidence to guide improvement • Done collaboratively

  11. Event #2 Inquiry • A series of activities focused on an element of the Standards (CSTP/Induction). • Allows the teacher to pursue professional activities to increase skills and abilities in the focus area.

  14. Connecting Standard 18 and CFASST Event 2 • Review the CSTP 2.1 Descriptions of Practice • Read and discuss Standard 18 elements a, b, c, d and e (use a + or ∆ for yourself) • How might incorporate elements of Standard 18 into your inquiry in Event2?

  15. Portfolio Evidence • Based on your “+” and “∆” identify areas where you can use the Safe Healthy Environment Action Plan. • This plan can be used as evidence in your portfolio.

  16. SUBJECT MATTER SELECTION • Elementary Teachers select ONE content area: Mathematics, English/ Language Arts, History/ Social Science or Science • Secondary Teachers select ONE class period / group of students AND a specific course STUDENT SELECTION • Identify 2 students that you will focus on throughout the year. • One student must be an English learner or a student on an IEP • The second student should represent a student with a learning challenge
