  2. How It Started Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, and many others.

  3. Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission. More Information A network of nearly 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.

  4. Their Mission The Make-a-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been around for decades. Originally developed in 1980, the idea behind this organization is to help children with life-threatening diseases. The idea is to have them live out one of their lifelong dreams before their health takes a further turn for the worse. The mission of the Make-a-Wish Foundation is not so much focused on the curing of the child's disease but about the curing of the child's soul. Many of these children have diseases that have no cure. Because of this, the Make-a-Wish Foundation tries to help children by making them happy.

  5. Cool Facts • The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 41 minutes. • In fiscal year 2006, the Foundation granted 12,691 wishes – the most ever in its 26-year history
