  1. Circumhorizontal Arc – Natural Phenomenon Color Clouds/Rainbow Cloud/Also Called as Fire Rainbow/Opposite of Iridescent Clouds By Janice Liman 6B

  2. Circumhorizontal Arc Natural Phenomenon

  3. What Is A Natural Phenomena? Natural phenomena is a phenomena that happens naturally without human’s influence, help or acts. Natural phenomena is different from natural disasters, even if the phenomena affect bad things to human. Natural phenomena used to be appreciated by people and it used to be breathe taking.

  4. What is Circumhorizontal Arc? Circumhorizontal arc is a phenomenon that happens on the Earth skies. This phenomenon was much likely a “colorful clouds” that was actually formed by water crystals and sun light. These water crystals formed clouds that reflects sun light with various color. Circumhorizontal arc was shaped like an arch and it also looks like a halo. People used to be mistaken that Circumhorizontal arc was a rainbow. It was a beautiful and attracting sight, but like other phenomena it happens rarely and only occurs at certain places when the sun was on a certain position that makes Circumhorizontal arc seen.

  5. What Cause the Circumhorizontal Arc? The Circumhorizontal arc happens because of the meeting point of water droplets (lined horizontally) and sun light. This meeting point ends as a horizontal rainbow on the sky formed by the clouds.

  6. How does the Circumhorizontal Arc Formed? Circumhorizontal arc was formed by large water crystals or water droplets. When light passes this water droplets, colors was seen. On the Circumhorizontal arc phenomenon, the water droplets lined in a row and the light enters Earth and pass it vertically. This rare incident creates a horizontal rainbow, known as the Circumhorizontal arc. In order to see it, the Sun needs to be high in the sky which make it rare for us to see it.

  7. Impacts of the Circumhorizontal Arc The impact of Circumhorizontal arc was… • Human Interest This phenomenon attracts human. Human, which was attracted to see, becomes more curious and eager to watch or take a picture of it. • Social This phenomenon makes human wanted to explore more and create/modify a technology to explain and gave detailed information about how this event occur.

  8. Value This phenomenon is a type of nature beauty and capability. It was proved that people would like to keep pictures and photographers or non photographers would hunt this phenomenon.

  9. Additional Information Circumhorizontal Arc position would be on the same direction of the Sun. The sun needs to be on a certain height so that the arc could be seen. Because of the requirement of the Sun’s position (needs to be high in the sky), it made this phenomenon one of the rarest. This phenomenon was likely happens to occur on summer seasons on certain places. Even if this phenomenon could be seen couple of time in this season, it was rare because we need to see it on an specific angle, time and place in order for us to see it clearly. We might wonder why it was seen in summer because it was dry and water crystals may not stay frozen. The explanation was that even if the area is dry, the atmosphere and skies were cold which make the water crystals stay frozen when creating this arc.
