  3. IL Licensing Issues • Each profession has their own curriculum & standards; governed by specific Acts • Experience w/ the Program of Instruction • Could lead to automatic waiver if volume is significant • Highly specialized fields

Current Laws • Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) – Educational Requirements • Public Act 097-0509: “Effective 8/17/2009, military emergency medical training will be evaluated and if it meets Illinois’s EMT standards applicants may only have to take an exam to obtain an EMT license” • Police Officers - Licensure • Public Act 097-0640: “Effective 12/19/2011, all persons who have been honorably discharged and who have been awarded an Afghan or Iraqi campaign medal by the military or naval services of the United States are deemed to have met the collegiate educational requirements, not withstanding any Board rule”.
