  2. Abortion • WBER political opinion- Recently abortion has been a huge controversial topic. Abortion is the willful and intentional termination of a pregnancy. Republicans are pro-life. Democrats are pro-choice. WBER believes that everyone should have a choice on whether to abort or not. Abortion is a personal, religious, and political issue. Everyone has different beliefs and preferences and they should have the right to do whatever they want. We also believe that abortion is not murder. • The women could be victims of rape that do not want their child. • Unplanned pregnancies can cause a lot of stress. Abortions can prevent mental and physical trauma. • It can save a woman’s life if she is unable to carry and deliver a baby. • Abortion is not murder because it is performed before a fetus has developed into a human person.

  3. Health Care Systems • WBER political opinion- As a part of the moderate party we do not support a nationalized health care system that would guarantee all citizens have health care because then there will be people who don’t work who will receive these health benefits. We think that the government should only provide Medicaid and Medicare. • Medicare will ensure that retired people will receive the benefits of health care. • Medicare now gives you two options to choose from, which allows you to have more flexibility with your health care plans. • Medicaid will ensure the people who have a low income and cannot afford to pay for health care will also receive these benefits. • Medicaid gives these same health benefits to children as they do adults.

  4. Gay Rights • WBER political opinion- We believe that Gays and lesbians should be able to get married. Being gay is not wrong because people all have different interests and it is not wrong to be interested in the same sex. Love is Love no matter what the sexual orientation. We believe that there should not be a law preventing it because other people are afraid of it or think it morally wrong. You are who you are its not fair to try and take that away from someone. • Being gay is not wrong in fact being gay is just one of the many ways people express who they are. • It is not a choice • They should not create a law against gay marriage • Marriage is the union of people who love each other • People are people and judging people based off their interests is wrong whether their interests are being with a person of the same sex or choosing what flavor bubble gum they like • Denying gays the right to marry and be together is against their civil rights and you should never take away a person’s civil rights • People deserve the right to choose who they want to be with Cons

  5. Economic and Mortgage Crisis • WBER political opinion- We think that the government bailout programs to banks, car companies and states provide some security for them. We also think that the government could probably create more jobs so that more people can have jobs and the unemployment rate can be decreased. • Pros: • Outsourcing jobs to other countries • Bailouts • Free trade regulations • America’s energy production is increasing

  6. Affirmative Action • WBER political opinion- We believe that affirmative action is a good thing but we not believe that people of other races should get benefits over white people. We believe that people of other ethnicities should be treated equal to colored people. • Affirmative action is a federal agenda initiated in the 1960s that’s designed to counteract historic discrimination faced by ethnic minorities, women and other underrepresented groups. To foster diversity and compensate for the ways such groups have historically been excluded, institutions with affirmative action programs prioritize the inclusion of minority groups in the employment, education and government sectors, among others.   7. Education • WBER political opinion- Our party believes the early childhood education should be required, meaning (pre-K) is mandatory. More federal funding will be spent to fund schools and education places. To evaluate teachers, at least one standardized test will be given per school year. Charter schools are a waste of money. We believe that teacher tenure will remain and the government is going to work with colleges to make secondary education more affordable.

  8. Energy Sources • WBER political opinion- We believe that the government should invest in nuclear research, solar research, and biofuels. We believe solar energy is a good investment because it leaves no waste and has been working well for many years. We believe in biofuels because we think we should search for other ways to fuel things for when we run out of nonrenewable resources. We also believe in nuclear because we already have all the resources to do this. • Solar energy leaves no waste • Biofuels could making the fueling system cheaper • Nuclear energy is simple to obtain • These methods could help the earth be a cleaner place • Nonrenewable resources must be replaced and this is a good way • Using resources like these that are not harmful to the environment are good • Biofuels keep the earth plentiful with ways to get around • Using these would be more beneficial • Homes would have an unlimited amount of power if the sun is the source

  9. Regulation of Business and Commerce • WBER believes the government should give tax breaks to companies and farmers in order to keep products and services cheaper. We think the government should regulate air and water pollution from companies and it should create incentives to keep factories and jobs in the US. • More safety guidelines for workers • More consumer protection • All employees are treated fairly. • There are safer working conditions. • It protects natural resources that businesses use. • Sets a minimum wage so no one gets paid less than they deserve.

  10. National Debt • WBER political opinion- National Debt is a big issue throughout the United States. We believe that in order to decrease our debt, we have to limit the amount of money we send to other countries, especially China. We give a large amount of money to China which is only benefitted their economic status not ours. • There are government bailout programs that significantly reduce credit card bills.

  11. Immigration • WBER political opinion- Coming to America legally should not become easier nor harder for immigrants. To control the borders more, additional guards will be present to check and make sure the people coming into America are legal. To address the problems with illegal immigrants being hired in the workplace; background checks to make sure the future employee is legal are a must before be hired. • Pros: • Culture exchange • New Avenues in Education and Career • Economic Growth • Distribution of Population
