  8. Operating regions for G-V (blue) DC-8 (yellow) and NOAA P-3 (red) with other colors indicating overlap regions. The optimum location for genesis missions with the G-V and DC-8 working the same system is west of the black line in the west Atlantic or central Caribbean. To work a system well east of the black line, the DC-8 would need a suitcase deployment. (The next version of this map should include operating areas for the WB-57 within 2-h ferry from Ellington or KSC. Note that deployment to Bermuda is not planned for the P-3s, so areas north and east of Bermuda should not be considered.) Issue: DC-8 circle is 2.5h ferry; G-V circle is ~3h ferry. Realistic for basic patterns? Implications for high priority targeting?

Atlantic Flight Ranges and Duration (3-hr ferry-too long for many purposes) Comment: GH on-station times of >12 hours are preferred, because there would then likely be time for at least 2 different flight patterns, or time to execute a single flight pattern more than once, or to undertake additional shorter modules.
