BECAUSE… • Available to all students • Future access to careers, Uni, TAFE, Life Skills • Best facilities in the Illawarra • Individual choice – topics; areas of study; examinations • At least 50% of assessment and HSC exam does not involve writing essays • Proven track record of the teaching staff

  4. DRAMA • Available to all students • Counts towards ATAR • Lots of personal choice for individual projects and group performance • 60% practical for the HSC • Develops skills for the future: self-confidence; imagination; communication; concentration; problem solving; memory; physical fitness

  5. MUSIC • Available to all students • Counts towards ATAR • Lots of personal choice for topics and how you are examined in the HSC • 70% practical for the HSC • Develops skills for the future: established link between studying Music and doing better in other subjects; higher self-esteem; creativity; abstract reasoning skills; improved spatial reasoning; self-discipline

  6. VISUAL DESIGN 1 UNIT • Available to all students • Recognised for entry into TAFE • 70% practical • Develop useful skills for other subjects • Develops skills for the future: creativity; problem solving; technology skills; spatial intelligence; analysing; critical thinking

  7. PHOTOGRAPHY 2 UNIT • Available to all students • Recognised for entry into TAFE • 70% practical • Develop useful skills for other subjects • Develops skills for the future: creativity; problem solving; technology skills; spatial intelligence; analysing; critical thinking

  8. VISUAL ARTS • Available to all students • Counts towards ATAR • Lots of personal choice for practical work • 50% practical for the HSC • Develops skills for the future: improved organisation; higher order thinking; self-assessment; flexible thinking; management of emotions; creativity; ability to think outside the square; improved perceptiveness

Entertainment (VET) • Available to all students • Counts towards ATAR • Focus on technical side of Live Theatre not performance • Competency based practical course • Involves work placement (1 week in each of year 11 and 12) • Develops skills for the future: self-confidence; imagination; communication; concentration; problem solving
