  2. #1. The further away an objet is, the smaller it appears.

  3. #2. Parallel Lines receding (going back) into the distance appear to converge (come together).

  4. #3. Depth creates shadow.

  5. #4. Evenly spaced objects (fence post) appear to become closer together, as they recede.

  6. #5. Focus is reduced as objects recede. Rule #2 is also shown here: The further away an object is, the smaller it appears.

  7. #6. Colors become duller and lighter as they recede into the distance.

  8. To do this, add a bit of the complementary color and white, to the base.

  9. Some artists think of it as warmer color close to you , and cooler (more blue) as you recede.
