  4. Nutritional Support Program One of a kind, the Nutrition Support Program by Sanjeevani makes nutrition rich food packets available to patients from the lower socio-economic background at select-super specialty Cancer hospitals: ACTREC, Kharghar in Mumbai and RST, Nagpur. With an aim to support the cancer treatment, this program facilitates a stronger immunity for the body to endure Chemotherapy. Sanjeevani reaches out to 50 registered patients undergoing chemotherapy at ACTREC, Kharghar and RST, Nagpur with food packets under this program on a daily basis.

  5. Financial support program • We propose to start facilitating treatment (financial support – full / part) of breast cancer patients meeting the following norms: • 1.    CA Breast Patient • 2.    Stage 1 / 2 • 3.    Below the age of 35 • 4.  Below poverty line • 5.   Regd for treatment in any of our affiliated hospitals • To start with one patient per month per center would be covered.

  6. Wig / Prosthesis Program Studies indicate that psychological trauma directly impacts the survival rate of Cancer patients. Hair loss during therapy is responsible for causing depression. This leads to many female patients refusing treatment. To mitigate this, we propose to provide wigs / prosthesis to 10 breast cancer patients – per month – in each center.

  7. Fun events for Cancer Patients We organize events for Cancer Patients on Festive occasions to make them feel good and fill their immediate atmosphere with vibrancy and joy. Such events provide them with a platform to vent out their emotions and start afresh with a positive attitude In 2012-13, we conducted two such events at ACTREC, Mumbai We propose to hold 3 such events in every center. .

  8. Advocacy with school and educational systems is critical in our work Advocacy with Institutions / Awareness Camps Sanjeevani has an inclusive model and in order to spread the message of prevention far and wide, we have enrolled the youth into the awareness programs. Currently we have over 70 Student volunteers spread over in the cities of Mumbai, Vadodara, Pune and Chennai. One awareness camp per centre covering approx 100 persons is proposed to be held per month

  9. Advocacy with school and educational systems is critical in our work Cancer Survivors Conferences Survivors Conference to facilitate sharing of experiences between leading Doctors, Counsellors, Spiritual leaders, Fitness experts, Nutritionists enabling Survivors to lead a more enriched life. One Conference covering over 200 survivors is proposed in each center.

  10. Advocacy with school and educational systems is critical in our work Cancer Detection Camps Outreach camps for creating awareness about causes of cancer , need for early detection and screening. Camps to be held in the rural / urban areas, with the help of Oncologists and Para medical staff wherein screening will be conducted for various types of cancer. Five awareness camp per centre covering 200 persons are proposed to be held.

  11. Can-a-thons Sanjeevani…Life Beyond Cancer has conducted two walk-a-thons to raise awareness for the fact that if detected early, CANCER IS CURABLE and to personify the I CAN spirit of cancer patients. These walk-a-thons conducted by Sanjeevani are aptly termed as “Can-a-thons”. • Someone asked us “How can Cancer be cured by a Walk?” • We say an awareness walk is not curative, but it is preventive. • By making people aware of the risk factors, signs & symptoms, and emphasizing on regular medical check ups, we are trying to highlight EARLY DETECTION. • By being detected timely (in 1st/2nd stage) most cancers are curable.. • often people aren't aware of signs & symptoms and it becomes too late when they seek medical help. • Factually, early detection can cut down cancer deaths by 50%. • Besides, the walk also talks about not losing hope and fighting cancer bravely. • Emotional, social and psychological healing is equally important for a survivor • to bounce back to life with the same enthusiasm.
