PRESENTATION ON A Historical Place LALBAGH FORT ~ Lalbagh Fortu00a0is an incomplete 17th centuryu00a0Mughal fort complex that stands before theu00a0Buriganga River in the southwestern part ofu00a0Dhaka, Bangladesh. Group information- ~Lalbagh fort ~HISTORY-Lalbagh Fort or Fort Aurangabad, an incomplete Mughal palace fortress at Dhaka on the river Buriganga in the southwestern part of the old city The construction of the fort was commenced in 1678 AD by prince MUHAMMAD AZAM during his 15 month long vice-royalty of Bengal, but before he could complete the work he was recalled by AURANGZEB. His successor, SHAISTA KHAN did not continue the work, though he stayed in Dhaka up to 1688. His daughter BIBI PARI (Lady Fairy) died here in 1684 and this led him to consider the fort to be ominous. ~HISTORY OF AURANGZEB-Mughal prince Muhammad Azam, third son of Aurangzeb started the work of the fort in 1678 during his vice-royalty in Bengal. He stayed in Bengal for 15 months. The fort remained incomplete when he was called away to dilhe by his father Aurangzeb. Shaista Khan was the new subahdar of Dhaka in that time, and he did not complete the fort. In 1684, the daughter of Shaista Khan named Iran Dukht Pari Bibi died there. After her death, he started to think the fort as unlucky, and left the structure incomplete. Among the three major parts of Lalbagh Fort, one is the tomb of Pari Bibi. ~NAME HISTORY-Generally anyone can easily think that Lalbagh fort is named after the place it is situated. This thinking is not totally wrong. Basically the Fort is named after itu2019s location. Previously the name was totally different, where there were no influence of the Lalbagh area. At first the name of this Fort was u201cKella Awarongojebu201d . ~Parts Of Lalbagh Kella-LALBAGH FORT tGates of Lalbagh tTomb of Bibi Pari tLalbagh Fort Mosque tDiwan-i-Aam tForti-fication Wall ~Gate Of Lalbagh-There are 3 gateways to enter the fort. The shouthern is the most important and one can see it form Buriganga. It has three-storied structure. But the middle structure is covered by Minaret. That is why it looks like a 2 storied structure. ~Diwan-i-Aam-The double-storied Diwan-i-Aam, is the greatest part of Lalbagh fort. It was used as the office at the time. Diwan-i-Aam is the place from where the Mughal ruler gave directions to the ordinary people once in a week. There is also a royal bathroom known as Hammam . ~GARDEN OF KELLA ~Tomb of Bibi Pari-Bibi Pari was the daughter of Shaista Khan and was also known as Iran Dukht Rahmat Banu . The tomb of Bibi Pari is in the middle of the complex. There is a central square room. It contains the remains of Bibi Pari covered by a false octagonal dome and wrapped by brass plate. The entire inner wall is covered with white marble. Eight rooms surround the central one. There is another small grave in the southeastern corner room. ~GRAVE OF BIBI PARI ~Lalbagh Fort Mosque-There is a mosque in kellah , Azam Shah to Delhi before he went to the mosque. This three- domed mosque that some attention. The mosque is the prayer in congregation. There are so very few of the old mosque in Dhaka. ~Fortification Wall -The southern fortification wall has a huge bastion in the southwestern corner. On the north of the south fortification wall were the utility buildings, stable, administration block, and its western part accommodated a beautiful roof-garden with arrangements for fountains and a water reservoir. The residential part was located on the east of the west fortification wall, mainly to the southwest of the mosque. ~POND OF KELLA ~Stories About The Fort -The popular stories about the fort begin. Before the construction was finished, Prince Azam was called back to his father, to assist in the war against the Marathas. Legend says, after the Mughal prince departed, Shaista Khan continued with building the project, but upon the untimely death of his much-loved daughter Iran-Dukht, warmly known as Pari Bibi, the construction was stopped. Bibi was engaged to Prince Azam at the time of her death. Locals believe, after her demise, on every full moon, Pari Bibi comes down on the fort, sings, dances and moves around it. ~PRESENT CONDITION OF LALBAGH FORTu00a0-In the 80th decades of last century, after 300 years of construction it has been reconstructed. From 1910, the Archaeological Divission is preserving it as a reserved spot. The gold covering of the shahi mosque is no more, now it is covered with copper or brush foil. Now tourists can visit it by paying a fixed amount of money. There are a musuem here, in Shayesta Khanu2019s living room & darber hall. Till now, the Shahi Mosque is also used for prayer. ~Amazing experience to Visit Lalbagh fort-The Red Fort has an impressive history being the seat of Mughal power for some considerable time. The overall structure is still intact, Its worth getting into the fort and visit the museum inside the fort where you will visit the things of mughal period.
