Style Sheets • Similar to templates • Used to set out the layout of documents • Settings are stored in a style sheet and then applied to text in a document or on a web page (a bit like the master slide in Microsoft PowerPoint) • Ensures documents are produced to a certain layout • Could you think of an example?

  3. Style sheets consist of: • Font type, size and colour • Margin and tabulation settings • Effects applied (italic, bold, underline) • Justification • Line spacing and margins • Borders • Background colour

  4. Advantages • Business documents are produced to a consistent house style • Different people can work on the same document but consistency will remain

  5. Disadvantages • All documents end up looking all the same • Cannot be tailored to target audience • Costs money
