Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) The dark knight rises was released in 2012 and the purpose of the trailer is to Attract the target audience in to go to the cinema and watch the movie. In order to achieve this target the film trailer includes the main highlights of the movie so it creates a suspense in the audience as they will want to know why , what and how did everything happen. Action movies are generally set in cities and other built up urban areas. The purpose of this setting is so a better sense of speed and action is see able by the audience and they do not miss out on any action. Location will always affect at how the action taking place is see able, taller buildings and bigger cities create more suspense. Camera shots used are fasts and mostly close ups, it will always start with an establishing shot so the audience is aware of the area and it gives the audience a mind set. The ideology of “ binary opposites and the equilibrium” do play a big part in action genre as action movies are based on good vs. bad and saving an object or family to save everyone and live the “ equilibrium”.

The logo is representing the institution that has paid money In order to produce this movie. The more popular the institution with better film the more likely the film will be watched by more people as they are aware of the good work the film institution has done in the past. The trailer starts with an establishing shot of the city. Low key lighting has used to make the scene darker and it gives the audience a feeling of suspense. At the same time the non diegetic sound is building and increasing in sound.

He seems serious about whatever task he is been given. It is very light in the room allowing the facial expressions to be visible and the high key lighting can suggest that he's the good guy as in the Hero. The scene changes to aeroplanes. Which suggest that there is a mission or some sort of activity taking place .The colour white dennotates good and the planes might have a link with the guy shown in the 1st scene.

Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) This scene shows the main lady character in the movie, she is shown in black and hiding her face meaning she might be bad however she is not proud about being bad, the way her hat hides her face can signify this. The colours used in the scene are dark and do suggest that something will happen. A medium shot of the villain appears after showing the main hero and heroin. The villains face is covered which can suggest that he is so violent and aggressive that he cannot even speak without the mask, this intrigues the audience as they would want to know why is his face covered?

The dialogues are short however quick to understand, it makes the audience want to watch more of the trailer as the message of the conversation is being understood and this builds interests. The next scenes show destruction taking place. They are long shots which display the detail taking place during the attack and it shows the panic with people running everywhere, like something is about to happen to maybe save these people?. Also these scene appear straight after the villain says “ i am...reckoning” , so we as an audience know that he is who is causing this disruption but why?

7. Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) The non diegetic sound i.e. the music’s pace increases and the music gets more and mores suspenseful at the time. Many fades have been used to keep a continuity in the movie and to not cut off once scene to another. Medium close up of the citizen’s have been shown to give the audience a vibe of how tensed the moment is for the people living in the town, it gives a realistic view to the audience and they are able to connect with the characters in the movie if they have been in a similar position. Some disasters are shown in the trailer to intrigue the audience because it is an action movie so stunts have to take place in order to fulfill the audience needs and wants.

8. Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) This is the batman symbol. As you can see the bat is white and the background is black. White symbolises good and black symbolises bad . The fact that the white bat is on top of the black shows that batman will save from disaster. The child drawing the bat shows and asking if batman will be back and drawing the sign shows that the sign symbolises batman. The caption are only 2 or 3 words but have a massive impact as they are related to the previous or next scene and it keeps the continuity for the audience.

9. Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) Few medium close ups have been shown of individuals who have some importance in the movie. The villain has been shown from a low angle shot giving the villain more power over the victim. Also it is a point of view shot which makes the audience feel like the villain is looking at them, it makes the audience feel the emotions of the victim and keeps the audience intrigued. Batman is walking and his body language makes shows that he is in charge, he is blended with the background showing he is fast as a bat. The positioning of Batman on the image gives him importance as its only him and he seems so ready to do whatever to save his town.

10. Action & Adventure The Dark knight rise ( 2012) The trailer ends with the credits, this is done to showthe whole cast who play an important role in the making of the film. Before the end batman stands on a pole and sees his town with pride as his cape flies. He's over looking the town like he is responsible of keeping the town safe. He is standing at such a peak from where you can see the whole town so its like he's the security guard of the town. The music increases pace and the suspense rises with the credits at the end appearing.
