  3. Indirect object pronouns tell to whomorfor whom the action is being done and are used to accompany or toreplace an indirect object pronoun.

  4. Me — to/for me Te — to/for you Le — to/for him,her,you (f.) Nos — to/for us Les — to/for them, you (pl.) Indirect Object Pronouns

  5. Indirect objects may be followed by a prepositional phrase to emphasize or clarify meaning: • (a mí) me • (a ti) te • (a él/ella/Ud.) le • (a nosotros/as) nos • (a ellos/ellas/Uds.) les

  6. Yo le di un triciclo a mi sobrino. (I gave my nephew a tricycle.) El calor me dio un dolor de cabeza a mí. (The heat gave me — just me not anyone else — a headache.) *It is necessary to always use a prepositional phrase for the él/ellos forms.

  7. Indirect object pronouns go before a conjugated verbOR are attached to the infinitive. Yo le quería comprar dulces (a él) Yo quería comprarle dulces. (I wanted to buy him candy.) (I wanted to buy candy for him.)

  8. As you have already learned, certain • verbs are used with indirect object pronouns. • gustar (A mi) me gusta leer. • encantar A él le encantan los veranos. • interesar No nos interesan las comedias. • faltar A Susana y a Pedro les falta un lápiz rojo. • parecer ¿Qué te parece este vestido?
