Long-term Goals Implement science inquiry research in secondary schools Institutionalize management of science fairs and science programs for secondary schools in regional and national levels Increase the number of students participating in science fairs by 100% within 3 years Increase the number of students participating in international science fairs Broaden the support base to include private, universities, corporate, and others Establish pilot projects to embed research in secondary school curriculum Establish another ISEF affiliated fair 5

Short-term Goals Establish a bank of mentors from research centers and universities Scale up the existing fair Empower and improve scientific review and judging capacity to meet ISEF standards Establish training for teachers in conducting research Develop and strengthening cooperation between involving parties (ministries, universities, and research centers) Establish “summer” internship research program 6

Objectives • 1000 students participating in affiliated fair within 2-year period and 1500 students in 3-year period • 2 affiliated fairs within next 3 years • 3 regional science fairs within next 5 year • 2 pilot projects within next 3 years • 100 mentors within the next 3 years • Systemic curriculum changes underway; • 100 teachers trained in Project Based Learning (or Inquiry-based research) • Ministry of Education commits funding for science fair

  10. Reflection • Highlights • Shop Talks were very helpful for new comers to set up high-school Research Programs and Science Fair • Most Beneficial Shop Talks • Too many to mention • Missing Shop Talks • Negotiation skills to attract donors and corporate sponsors
