  11. WIPI means…… • Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability • Developed by KWISF • V1.0 was announced in February 2002 • adapted as a TTA standard in May 2002 • V1.2.1 was announced in May 2003 • Currently WIPI 2.0 is developing in KWISF

  15. WIPI Technical Features • Dynamic loadable modules of APIs or components • High level memory management • Supports shared memory • Memory compaction and Garbage collection • 3 levels of security • 3 levels are applied with APIs and file systems

WIP Development of WIPI V2.0 • Extend the mobile platform special group in KWISF to promote the enhancement of WIPI • reorganized into 3 WGs and 1 TFT • over 40 companies including foreign companies join those WGs • Motorola, SUN, IBM, Microsoft are in WIPI 2.0 TFT • In WIPI 2.0 TFT, • the TFT meeting for WIPI 2.0 is held at every Friday. • the first draft will be produced by Oct. 31.

WIPI Commercialization Status • Currently, 2 carriers produce 4 models of WIPI phones since this June. • SKT services 301 contents • KTF services 38 contents • 584,00 number of users • Until at the end of this year, 10 more models will be produced as their plan. <SKT, SKTeletec/IMT2000> <LGT, LG-LP1900>

  20. Further Considerations • We can supports interoperable services through standard wireless internet platform • supports the GSM, WCDMA • supports smart phones with dual processors
