  9. Disulfiram inhibits DβH and increases brain dopamine. Cocaine also increases brain dopamine. Combination leads to higher levels of brain dopamine (Reward Mechanism) Disulfiram inhibits cocaine metabolism resulting in longer-lasting cocaine effect. PROPOSED MECHANISM OF ACTION FOR DISULFIRAM IN COCAINE DEPENDENCE
