National Oversight Structure used for Genetics The NHSSG was established in December 2009 to sit in the West Midlands Workforce Deanery The following documents have been developed and are available to support the School Structure & Function of the School Governance structure feeds into HCS sub board of MEE Quality Assurance Framework aligned with Deanery Communications Strategy School Board established with full professional and academic representation Curriculum Advisory Group established – now transferred back to Professional body merged with GETB Liaison with SHAs established funding for continuation and adoption of the modernised training programme incorporated into Tuition fees

Functions Developed communications strategy Newsletters websites Academic liaison of MSc programme with The University of Nottingham Curricula developed and continually reviewed Problem based learning co-ordinated with work based assessments Trainees performance monitored Generic learning established Regular interaction with Depts for work based training and assistance with rotations  Meetings facilitate sharing and discussions

  5. Quality Assurance framework Developed with SHA / deanery Applied nationally QA and accredit placements with professional body Trainee assessment of training Dept self assessment Visits

Train the Trainers Programme Train the Trainer programme established in conjunction with the West Midlands Workforce Deanery 3 day training programme educational learning styles, how to deliver the new training use of new assessment tools establish trainer qualification Developed complete set of training tools given to Departments to cascade training 49 trainers have been trained by the School Planned nationally Is 3 days out appropriate

National Assessment Programme National assessment programme designed and delivered with detailed content to enable standardised assessments to take place across the programme Includes assessment by the use of Case Based Discussions (CBD), Direct Observation of Practical Skills (DOPS), Multiple Source Feedback (MSF) and competency assessment An online training e-portfolio enables the trainees to keep an online record of progress and achievements. Has annual mid term national review of progress Has annual progress reviews and final assessments established with a use of assessment tools Includes functions for national reporting to the National Board Own functionality – national administration Data has to be owned
