  2. MEGLENA KUNEVA BIOGRAPHY • 1981 -Graduated in Law from Sofia University. • 1984 -Doctor of Law. She worked as a journalist for the Law Program of the Bulgarian National Radio while being an Assistant Professor at Sofia University. • 1990-2001 -Senior Legal Advisor at the Council of Ministers. Specializes in Foreign Affairs and Environmental Law at Georgetown University. Worked at the Legal Department of the Council of Ministers in the sphere of ecological law, state-owned property, natural resource usage, concessions, and agriculture. • 2001- Elected as a deputy of the Liberal Simeon II National Movement (NDSV) party.

MEGLENA KUNEVA BIOGRAPHY • 2001 -Left position in the Bulgarian parliament. • Negotiator of the Republic of Bulgaria with the European Union. • Represented the Bulgarian Government in the Convention on the Future of Europe. • 2002 -Appointed Bulgaria's first Minister of European Affairs in the government of former Tsar Simeon Sakskoburggotski. • 2006 -Nominated to be Bulgaria's first member of the European Commission. • September 2010 -Appointed as a Chair of the Governing Board of the European Policy Center. • 2011 -Independent candidate for the presidential elections.

MEGLENA KUNEVA NDSV • Simeon II’s 18 months as prime minister: Transforms the international perception of Bulgaria as backward and irredeemably corrupt and helps it secure an invitation to join NATO. • The government's popularity slumps from almost 70 percent to around 25 percent. If elections were held, the National Movement for Simeon II would come in third, according to most opinion polls, while the former Communists of the Socialist Party would regain power. • The popularity of Simeon's administration abroad was good because of its commitment to economic reforms and other conditions for its goal of joining the European Union. • NDSV manages to convince Bulgarians that their lives will improve for 800 days.

MEGLENA KUNEVA Elections, poll and Kuneva’s aspiration • October 23 2011 - the first round of the elections, not only for municipal administrations, but also for president. • Rosen Plevneliev from GERB with (29.1%) chances to win according to Alpha’s research • Ivailo Kalfin from BSP with (21.9%) • Meglena Kuneva who was part of NDSV and now an independent candidate with (14.1%) chances.. • Kuneva had 2 major problems • Brussels woman • No support from the party • “Candidate of the citizens”.
