Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas • And… • Johnny Elias started officiating his first High School Basketball game. • Today we honor Johnny Elias for 50 years of outstanding service to High School Basketball

Kreul Tournament Review • One of the area’s best and still prestigious Holiday Tournaments • Sponsored by the BCAA • FHSAA Sanctioned – Coral Springs High is host school • Jim Reilly is Executive Director and founder of Tournament • The BCBOA is governed by the BCAA • Five/six years ago Pay was $40 for 3-man • Past few years Pay was $45 for 3-man – Harry received the raise for the Association five/six years ago • As President our By-Laws call for the office-holder to act as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association

Kreul Tournament Review • Earlier in season a member was making noise and threatening to make an issue over the Kreul Tournament • The potential disruption for the Tournament was taken seriously and the BCAA was informed as well as the Kreul • In follow up discussions with Damian Huttenhoff , Director of BCAA, I was informed of their sponsorship contribution. • I scheduled a lunch with Jim Reilly on Dec 3rd • The result of our lunch was that he offered a $3 increase per official provided the BCAA was able to contribute more money • Based on the number of games this year, the difference between the Kreul’s raise and $57 fee was $1100. • Damian could not do $1100 but offered $500. • I accepted both the $3 raise and the add’l $500.

Kreul Tournament Review • The raise enabled payment to move from $45 to $53.50 per game per official • NOTE: There was never any discussion at that time or prior to the start of the Tournament regarding the hospitality room. • NOTE: There was no quid pro quo of “give us more money and you can take away the hospitality room.” • I sent them both confirmation emails and received their confirmations and notified the Board of the raise • I did not notify the General Membership which was my judgment call at the time • Subsequently on the opening night of the Tournament no room was provided and I was informed that evening by two officials

Kreul Tournament Review • I met with Jim on Tournament Thursday Dec 20 and asked what happened, and he said that the more he thought about it, the more he stewed • He also said that he has to pay the City for the hospitality room and since we got a raise he took away the room • They provided a small locker room for us

ELECTIONS • •Offices that are open are:  President, 2nd Vice President, Sergeant of Arms (2yr Terms);   Treasurer (1yr term) • •Jan 10-27 Nominations for Board of Directors will take place • •An email nomination must be forwarded to bcboaboard@hotmail.comANDtbailey@fortlauderdale.gov by the individual who wants to run or who is requested to run by a member-in-good-standing • •A "Second" from a different member-in-good-standing on behalf of the office-seeker is mandatory and must be sent to BOTH of the above email addresses during the nomination dates • If you are running for office, it is the recommendation of this Association that you contact Troy Bailey or Lee Lazerson to assure yourself that the Nomination and Second has been received within the time constraints noted by this communication. • The time-stamp denoted on your received email will be the official date/time of record

ELECTIONS • ****A nominee is NOT Official until both "nomination" and "second" are received by midnight January 27th, 2013****-Nominees will be communicated to our membership as they become official with the nomination and second received • •Online question and answer from Jan 28 – Feb 4th • •You submit question to bcboaboard@hotmail.com • •Your question is submitted to your office-seeker intendee(s) and posted on-line • •The office-seeker(s) must submit their answers electronically to bcboaboard@hotmail.com within 24 hours-No editing to the answer will be done and it will be posted as it was received. • •The answer is posted online • •You read it online • •No anonymous questions will be accepted • •Elections to be held Feb 5th 7am – Feb 7th 12M via www.associationvoting.com • •Voting will be Online using the email address you use on Arbiter the login • •No write-in candidates for Board positions are offered-The Announcement of the winners for the Association elections will be published on Feb 8th and will be Final upon publishing.-In addition to the Board positions, the ballot will include voting for the Jim Mulchay Rookie of the Year Award and for the Bill McFadden Award for the school that goes above and beyond in the hospitality provided to our member officials; as well as a comments section.
