  2. Weight lifting • Sarah and Casey are comparing how much weight they can lift on the pull down machine. • The weight lifted is determined by the number of metal bars in the lifted stack. IDMT 2010

  3. Weight lifting – Part 1 We know that 5 bars weigh 30 lbs. together If the machine holds 7 bars, what are the amounts of weight that can be lifted? If Casey can lift two more bars than Sarah, how much more weight can Casey lift? What if each bar weighs 5.2 lbs? IDMT 2010

  4. Weight lifting – Part 2 Casey and Sarah realize that the hook and cord used to pull the bars actually weighs 4 lbs. How does this change your answers to the previous questions? IDMT 2010
